Dubai World Cup 2026 Result and Replay - Magnitude beats Forever Young at Meydan
The 2026 Dubai World Cup marked its 30th anniversary with an exhilarating race at Meydan. Magnitude secured a triumphant win, expertly managed by jockey Jose Ortiz, to claim America's victory following in the footsteps of Curlin. Forever Young, a favorite believed to set a new earnings record, settled for second after initially challenging the leading Magnitude. The crisply-managed tactics by Ortiz allowed Magnitude to poach a decisive lead into the bend and maintain dominance till the finish line. Notably, British contender Meydaan and Imperial Emperor vied fiercely, with Meydaan finishing third.

The final race on a stunning card at Meydan today was the Dubai World Cup, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2026.
Having watched Ombudsman and Calandagan win earlier in the afternoon, favourite backers were hoping to see Forever Young do the business in the feature. Yoshito Yahagi's star had won the Breeders' Cup and the Saudi Cup on his last two starts, and victory in Saturday's feature would make Forever Young the highest-earning horse in history.
The odds-on favourite was beaten at a similar price in the 2025 Dubai World Cup. Hit Show claimed a shock victory that day, and Brad Cox's grey returned to try and defend his crown.
The aptly-named Meydaan was the leading British contender for Simon and Ed Crisford. Bhupat Seemar was represented by Imperial Emperor and Walk Of Stars. Magnitude took his chance for American connections.
The father and daughter combo of Jamie and Saffie Osbourne teamed up with Best Turned Out winner, Heart Of Honour. Doug Watson's Tap Leader and Wathnan Racing's Tumbarumba completed the line-up.

From his low draw on the rail in stall one, Magnitude was the first to show and grabbed the early lead. Forever Young settled behind the leader in the early stages, with Tumbarumba prominent on his outside.
Meydaan was positioned on the rail in the middle of the pack, with Hit Show just behind him. Walk Of Stars couldn't get to the front on this occasion and raced alongside Imperial Emperor. Heart Of Honour and Tap Leader settled at the rear.
Heading down the back straight, the leading group was well bunched. Magnitude travelled well, as did Meydaan on the rail. Imperial Emperor's jockey, Tadhg O'Shea, was the first to get to work, along with Ryusei Sakai, who rode Forever Young into the bend.
Jose Ortiz judged his fractions perfectly on the leader, stacking the field up behind him before kicking three lengths clear into the bend. Forever Young responded well to pressure and took dead aim at the leader with two furlongs to travel. However, the lead Magnitude poached on the bend proved to be costly, and Steve Asmussen's star followed in the footsteps of Curlin by winning the Dubai World Cup for America.
Meydaan and Imperial Emperor enjoyed a fierce battle for third place, which went the way of the Crisfords' runner. Hit Show didn't have an unsustainable pace to run at on this occasion, but the defending champion still ran home well to finish fifth.
Fellow Wathnan representative Tumbarumba crossed the line sixth, ahead of Heart Of Honour. Tap Leader and Walk Of Stars barely featured throughout.
