Fairyhouse Tips on April 5th - Four selections for day two of the Irish Grand National meeting

Day 2 of the 2026 Irish Grand National Festival at Fairyhouse showcases a thrilling lineup, including two headlining Grade One races. Too Bossy For Us, recommended at a competitive 7/1, is anticipated to excel in the Donohue Marquees Novice Hurdle, indicating potential improvement on softer ground. In the Paddy Kehoe Suspended Ceilings Novice Hurdle, Love Me Tender is worth watching at 15/2, contingent on rain conditions. Finally, in the wide-open Honeysuckle Mares Novice Hurdle, Kingston Queen is a promising choice at a generous 33/1, offering excellent value.

The 2026 Irish Grand National festival rolls into its second day on Sunday, and racing fans have got a fantastic card to delve into. Two quality Grade One races headline the schedule, and they're supported by a couple of Grade Twos and some competitive handicaps.

Here are my best betting tips for Sunday's card at Fairyhouse.

Irish Grand National Festival 2026 - Day 2 Tips


2:40pm Fairyhouse - Donohue Marquees Novice Hurdle Tips


This doesn't seem to be a particularly strong race for the grade, and Leader d'Allier seems gettable at his current price. I'd much rather back his stablemate, TOO BOSSY FOR US (7/1), as he entered Grade Two company for the first time.

Willie Mullins' recruit has had four starts over hurdles, and three of those have come in Grade Ones. Too Bossy For Us was a 50/1 shot when only beaten eight lengths in last year's Triumph Hurdle, but jumped terribly in the equivalent race at Punchestown in the spring, before running on the flat over the summer.

Danny Mullins' mount claimed a cosy victory in a maiden hurdle back at Punchestown in February, before carrying another massive price into the Supreme. Paul Townend took the ride after Leader d'Allier was ruled out, and endured a wide trip throughout the opening race of the Cheltenham Festival, but still crossed the line just 11 lengths adrift of Old Park Star in sixth - finishing behind El Cairos and ahead of Talk The Talk.

Softer ground today should suit Willie Mullins' five-year-old. Too Bossy For Us still has plenty of improvement to make in the jumping department, but should be bang on the premises if everything goes to plan.

3:15pm Fairyhouse - Paddy Kehoe Suspended Ceilings Novice Hurdle Tips


Willie Mullins will saddle five of the first six in the betting ahead of this Grade Two, and there's every chance he'll claim a 1-2-3-4. I'm going to give another chance to LOVE ME TENDER (15/2), in the hope that there isn't too much rain over the next 24 hours.

Mullins' charge impressed over the summer, winning a bumper, a novice hurdle and a Grade Three at Tipperary. Love Me Tender then finished third in two Grade Ones at Leopardstown, without really threatening the leaders on either occasion.

Mark Walsh's mount should be at his most comfortable over this intermediate trip, and he's won both starts going right-handed. If yielding remains in the going description, Love Me Tender has a decent chance of winning.

3:50pm Fairyhouse - Honeysuckle Mares Novice Hurdle Tips


There's no clear stand-out in this Grade One, so I'm happy to take a punt on David Pipe's raider, KINGSTON QUEEN (25/1).

Jack Tudor's mount has enjoyed an excellent first season over hurdles, beating two future Grade Two winners in the process. Kingston Queen has only been beaten around Cheltenham, finishing third behind Supreme winner Old Park Star in a novice hurdle, before an eight-length defeat to White Noise - who she had beaten at Warwick - in the Mares' Novices' Hurdle.

I've long thought that Pipe's mare would be at her best over two-and-a-half miles on soft ground, and she'll have her ideal conditions on Sunday afternoon. With some of the strongest form in the book, Kingston Queen is worth chancing at a massive price.
