2026 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud Runners
Calandagan is the odds-on favourite to retain his Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud crown. Victory in this Group One opened the floodgates for Francis Graffard's star, who went on to win the King George, the Champion Stakes, the Japan Cup and the Sheema Classic.
Former Arc runner-up and Prix Vermeille winner Aventure represents Christophe Ferland. Consistent four-year-old Cualificar will make his first start for the new father-and-daughter training partnership of André and Lavinia Fabre. Cristian Demuro reunites with last season's Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Leffard, while Colin Keane takes the ride on Francis Graffard's second-string, Sunly.
Dante and Great Voltigeur winner Pride Of Arras is the leading British hope on his belated reappearance for Ralph Beckett. Seven-year-old Eydon also runs for Beckett under Oisin Murphy. Despite the presence of Ryan Moore in the saddle, 2025 Epsom Derby winner Lambourn is the rank outsider of the field.

Despite that tame effort on unsuitably soft ground in the Coronation Cup at Epsom, it's very hard to look beyond Calandagan. Mickael Barzalona wasn't hard on his mount that day, and the odds-on favourite has had almost a month to recover from his unsuccessful trip to England.
Of those available at each-way prices, SUNLY (20/1) interests me most. Francis Graffard's filly won her first three starts during her debut campaign in 2025 before being put away for the season following a narrow defeat to Qilin Queen in the Prix de Malleret.
Sunly returned to action in May with an impressive Group Three victory here at Saint-Cloud, producing a strong late challenge to beat a couple of rivals rated in the 110s. Colin Keane then partnered Sunly for the first time in the Prix Corrida, where Graffard's filly ran well to finish a clear second behind Aventure.
This daughter of Night Of Thunder looked every inch a mile-and-a-half filly last season, so I'm pleased to see her stepped back up in trip. Sunly remains lightly raced, and Graffard was confident she'd improve as a four-year-old. Stall one shouldn't pose any problems in such a small field, and Sunly looks good each-way value at 20/1.
