The first major meeting in September takes place at Haydock Park, where the Sprint Cup headlines the card. This six-furlong contest has been won by sprinting legends like Be Friendly, Moorestyle and Danehill down the years and this year's renewal is looking decidedly open.

2026 Sprint Cup Entries

Comanche Brave hit the big time at Newmarket's July Festival. Donnacha O'Brien's star opened his account at the highest level, beating Venetian Sun in the July Cup, and Comanche Brave is the favourite to make it two Group One wins in a row at Haydock.

Almeraq claimed his maiden Group One win with a flying finish in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, but failed to fire in the July Cup, finishing ninth of the 11 runners. Coppull kept on well to finish fourth behind Comanche Brave, and bounced back to winning form in the Hungerford Stakes on his most recent start at Newbury.

Big Mojo won this race 12 months ago, and Mick Appleby's stable star will return to Haydock on the back of a Group Three victory in Ireland. Flora Of Bermuda and Kind Of Blue completed the top three behind Big Mojo last year, and both could represent Wathnan Racing again at Haydock.

William Haggas has handed entries to two of his stable stars, with Lake Forest and Division both sitting prominently in the betting. Japanese star Satono Reve could return to six furlongs, having struggled over seven at York. Jubilee Stakes third Stolen Kiss is a likely runner for French trainer Patrice Cottier.

Aidan O'Brien could be represented by 1000 Guineas winner True Love or King Charles III Stakes scorer Mission Central. Other potential runners include Fozzy Stack's Prix Jean Prat winner Thesecretadversary, Michael Bell's filly Spicy Marg, Paborus for the Ed Bethell team, and Andrew Balding's pair of Marvelman and Double Rush.
