2025 Hunters' Chase Runners
I won't pretend to be an expert in point-to-point racing and, quite frankly, I never watch Hunter Chases when they appear on a regular card. This is the race that would interest me least from a betting standpoint. It does, however, throw up a nice story or two, like when Sine Nomine upset the super-power that is JP McManus to hand Festival glory to the little-known trainer, Fiona Needham.
Its On The Line was the beaten favourite that day, and last year's runner-up sits prominently in the betting again. Emmet Mullins' star was impressive when winning at Aintree last April, where the heavy ground suited him over that shorter trip.
2023 Kim Muir winner, Angels Dawn was pointed at the Hunter Chase after falling in last year's renewal of that handicap and Sam Curling's mare jumped to the head of the market after two easy wins in the point-to-point field. Ryehill was beaten six-lengths by Angels Dawn when they met at Dromahane in December, but thrust himself into Festival contention with a runaway Hunter Chase success at Naas last month, leaving Its On The Line trailing 17 lengths in his wake.
Willitgoahead jumped beautifully when beating a decent field at Thurles in January and Sean Doyle's contender has been the talk of the preview circuit, with many predicting he will be backed into favouritism. Another talking horse is Paul Nicholls' Shearer, who is unbeaten in four starts over fences and will be ridden by Paul's daughter, Olive on day four of the Cheltenham Festival.
Allmankind won the Old Roan during his time under rules and has struck twice between the flags under Jennifer Owen's name this season. The Andrews family will be represented by Fairly Famous, who has won twice at the Hunter Chase meeting staged at Cheltenham every April. This year's Champion Hunter Chase winner at Stratford was What A Glance, who'll make his first appearance in this race for young trainer Tom Britten.
Declan Queally's Rocky's Howya could return to Cheltenham, having finished fourth in the 2023 renewal of this contest. Ontheropes, Wonderwall and Carnfunnock could also bolster the Irish challenge, with Music Drive, Angels Breath and Bardenstown Lad also likely to take their chance.

2025 Hunters' Chase Tips
I never get stuck into anything at short prices in the Hunters' Chase. In-fact, my bets in this race are few and far between. If the ground is as good as the forecast suggests it might be, then that will suit the home runners better than their Irish counterparts.
WHAT A GLANCE (20/1) is of interest at a decent price. Tom Britten's charge took a while to warm to point-to-point racing, but found his feet last term and impressed with an 11-length triumph in the Junior Jumpers Open Hunters' Chase here at Cheltenham in May.
Murray Dodds' mount then claimed Champion Hunters' Chase glory at Stratford, swooping into the lead on the approach to the final flight before kicking four lengths clear of the pack. Since then, What A Glance has finished second twice between the flags, losing out to Allmankind at Horseheath before a slightly disappointing defeat on his prep-run for Cheltenham at Buckfastleigh.
What A Glance is an extremely strong stayer, and did his best work in the closing stages of both of his spring victories. Britten is assistant trainer to Shropshire-based trainer Alastair Ralph and this horse is owned by his Grandmother, Ann Taylor. The family were delighted when What A Glance struck here in May, and a Festival winner would taste even sweeter.
Verdict
What A Glance is an interesting runner in the 2025 Hunters' Chase.
