Europe's most prestigious flat race, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, will take place at Longchamp this afternoon, and the betting for today's feature race is really beginning to hot up.

2026 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Runners

Defending champion Daryz heads into today's Arc as the clear favourite after getting the better of Minnie Hauk in a thrilling finish 12 months ago. Francis Graffard's star was campaigned mainly over ten furlongs during the first half of the season, winning the Prix Ganay and the Prix Aga Khan in excellent style, before strengthening his position at the head of the market with an easy victory over Bay City Roller in the Prix Foy. This morning, money has continued to arrive for Daryz, and he's now the 6/4 favourite.

Kalpana beat Calandagan in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot and returns for another shot at the Arc, having finished seventh at Longchamp 12 months ago. Thundering On bounced back to top form by winning the Blandford Stakes during Irish Champions Weekend and takes her chance in today's main event. Both have been supported since Thursday's draw, with Kalpana coming into 4/1 from 7s, and Thundering On is into 7/1 as of this morning.

William Haggas is represented by Maltese Cross, who won the Grand Prix de Paris over this course and distance earlier in the season. Francis Graffard's Varandir shortened significantly in the betting after winning the Prix Niel and attracted further support after being drawn alongside stablemate Daryz in stall four.

Prix de Diane winner Diamond Necklace was cut into single figures after being confirmed for the race, but Aidan O'Brien's star filly has drifted after being handed the widest stall of all. Ryan Moore opted to ride Benvenuto Cellini following the draw, and O'Brien's Irish Derby winner is available at a similar price. William Buick partners last year's runner-up Minnie Hauk, who remains available at attractive odds.

Prix Vermeille winner Friendly Soul was supplemented into the Arc by the Gosdens and remains available at around 25/1 this morning. Coronation Cup winner Bay City Roller has drifted markedly following a tricky wide draw, while the confirmation of good ground has also weakened her position in the market.

Those conditions should certainly suit the two Japanese contenders, Meisho Tabaru and Admire Terra, although neither are well fancied. Roger Varian is represented by Grosser Preis von Baden winner Saddadd, while Arrow Eagle, Bright Light and Chestnut Rocket complete the field at triple-figure prices.
