2026 Irish Champion Stakes Entries
Constitution River's winning run came to an end in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York. Aidan O'Brien's Prix du Jockey Club and Eclipse winner was sent off as the 7/4 second-favourite, but could only finish third as Item claimed a shock victory.
Andrew Balding's star got the better of Almaqam in the closing stages at York to open his account at Group One level. This season's top two three-year-olds look set to clash again at Leopardstown, and it's Constitution River who tops the early betting.
A Boy Named Susie followed Constitution River home in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown, and steps back into Group One company on the back of a welcome victory in the Royal Whip Stakes. Ed Walker has handed an entry to International Stakes runner-up Almaqam, who claimed his first Group One victory in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh earlier in the season.
Ombudsman holds an entry, but his current odds suggest that John and Thady Gosden won't be sending their top colt to Ireland. Benvenuto Cellini and Bay City Roller will run in Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe trials, while both Thundering On and Calandagan remain unlikely runners.
Dermot Weld could be represented by the progressive Purview, following Listed an Group Three victories this season. Roger Varian could be represented by Saddadd, following top-four finishes in the Tattersalls Gold Cup and the Eclipse.
