Irish Champions Weekend rolls into it's final day on Sunday, as the Curragh stages one of the best cards of the season. The first four races on Sunday will be showing live on ITV, including the Matron Stakes and the thrilling Flying Five Stakes. The National Stakes then leads up to the fourth and final Group One on the card, the Irish equivalent of the St Leger.

Here are our best betting tips through the card on day two of Irish Champions Weekend.

Curragh Tips - Irish Champions Weekend Day 2 Tips

1:50pm Curragh - Bold Lad Sprint Handicap Tips

Strike Red looks to have been primed for this handicap, but Richard Fahey's raider is too short for me at 8/1. Instead, I'll be having a small each-way bet on the joint-top rated SAINT LAWRENCE (20/1).

Archie Watson's six-year-old hasn't won since last year's Wokingham, but he has put up some good performances in handicaps and was narrowly beaten in the 2023 Prix Maurice De Gheest. Saint Lawrence drops back down into handicap company after three decent efforts in pattern races at Deauville and Hollie Doyle travels over to take the ride. He's more than capable of winning under 10-00.

2:25pm Curragh - Blandford Stakes Tips

I backed PURPLE LILY (11/4) in the Irish Oaks at lengthy prices during the build-up, and was filled with confidence when Paddy Twomey's filly was backed into 9/1 before the off.

Billy Lee's mount was the last to come off the bridle, but Purple Lily got into a tussle with You Got To Me as she tried to find an out. Ralph Beckett's filly won the physical battle and strode clear to land that Classic, leaving Purple Lily to hang on for third.

Twomey's filly has only raced over ten furlongs once, losing out narrowly to future Epsom Oaks winner Ezeliya in the Salsabil Stakes. Purple Lily then finished a good fifth in the Irish 1000 Guineas, before that placed effort in the Oaks - the form of which has worked out well. 11/4 isn't a great price, but I'm confident that she's the best horse in this contest.

3:00pm Curragh - Moyglare Stud Stakes Tips

Just the five runners, but this promises to be a cracking renewal of the Moyglare. Bedtime Story looked like a world-beater at Royal Ascot and, although her two wins since haven't been as impressive, Aidan O'Brien said in his ICW stable tour that the team have been trying to teach her how to win without fully opening up.

Lake Victoria won here at the Curragh on debut, before following up in good style at Newmarket. Ollie Sangster's Simmering won a French Group Two by three lengths last time out, so she cannot be underestimated.

I really like the look of RED LETTER (11/2), who might have beaten Lake Victoria on debut had she enjoyed a smoother passage through the contest. Ger Lyon's filly made the running on her second maiden outing at this track, scoring by over four lengths in impressive fashion. This daughter of Frankel is a powerful traveller, who quickened nicely on both her starts. She could be anything.

3:35pm Curragh - Flying Five Stakes Tips

British speedsters have dominated Irish sprints in recent years and I can't see that trend changing on Sunday. Bradsell bids to build on his impressive win in the Nunthorpe. I was planning on backing Believing, but Ryan Moore has been handed the worst stall possible down in one.

Another raider who represents each-way value is KERDOS (16/1), who beat former Nunthorpe winner Live In The Dream in the Temple Stakes back in May. Clive Cox's four-year-old then got a little outpaced when fifth in the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot, and was fifth again on his most recent outing at Goodwood, where he was only beaten two lengths behind Big Evs.

Kerdos has done all of his winning on good, good-to-soft or soft ground, so the rain that's due to hit the Curragh on Sunday morning will help his cause. He offers value at 16/1.

4:10pm Curragh - National Stakes Tips

Charlie Appleby has only had four runners in the National Stakes and three of them have won. I respect the unbeaten Henri Matisse, but I'm keen to side with Appleby's raider, AOMORI CITY (9/2).

William Buick's mount stepped up to seven furlongs in the Vintage Stakes, having found Whistlejacket a little too sharp over six in the July Stakes. Aomori City travelled powerfully around Goodwood and surged a good distance clear of the field on the run to the line.

The form of the Vintage Stakes looks strong, with third-placed Cool Hoof Luke winning the Gimcrack next time out. Appleby identified the National Stakes as the target for Aomori City in the immediate aftermath of that victory. The favourite could be in for a shock.

5:20pm Curragh - Super Auction Sales Stakes Tips

No bet for me here. Not my kind of race at all.

5:55pm Curragh - Northfields Handicap Tips

Tom Gibney is no stranger to handicap success here at the Curragh, and I fancy his mare ALANYA (11/1) could go well at an each-way price.

Gavin Ryan's mount won the Ladies Derby at the Curragh last year, before placing third in a Listed race over this course-and-distance. Alanya flew home from an awful position to finish a close sixth in the Nasrullah Handicap at Leopardstown in July, and was last seen plugging on to finish fourth in the Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran Park.

Alanya remains on a workable handicap mark and Gibney has had a month to prepare his mare for this assignment. If Ryan can find a good early position from stall nine, she could be in with a shout.
