The Irish Champions Weekend at the Curragh promises thrilling Group One races, with the 2025 Irish St Leger taking center stage. Aidan O'Brien's Illinois is a strong contender after placing second at both the British St Leger and other Group One events. Jan Brueghel, last year's winner, is another significant entry. Joseph O'Brien's Al Riffa and Willie Mullins' Sober are set to bring fierce competition following recent victories. Other notable entries include Trustyourinsticts and Carmers. The event is a must-watch for horse racing enthusiasts.

Irish Champions Weekend draws to a fitting conclusion at the Curragh on Sunday. Four Group One races feature on the card, including the Irish version of the St Leger which, unlike the British St Leger, is open to horses of three-years-old or over.

2025 Irish St Leger Entries

With no Kyprios to rely on this year, Aidan O'Brien will rest his hopes on Illinois in the Irish St Leger. O'Brien's colt finished second in the British equivalent of this Classic at Doncaster last season, and Illinois has been forced to settle for second in his two Group One starts so far this term at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood.

O'Brien has also entered last year's St Leger winner Jan Brueghel. Scandinavia could run here, but seems more likely to stay within his own age-group in the British St Leger at Doncaster. Puppet Master, Stay True, Absurde and London City could fly the flag for Ballydoyle.

Joseph O'Brien looks set to run Al Riffa, following his runaway course-and-distance triumph in the Curragh Cup. Willie Mullins' Sober could step up to Group One company, on the back of his emphatic victory in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot. Fellow Ascot hero, Amiloc could head to the Currah - as Ralph Beckett's gelding isn't allowed to enter the British St Leger.

Trustyourinsticts could join Al Riffa in the field, following his Group Three win in June. Paddy Twomey's Royal Ascot winner, Carmers is entered on Irish Champions Weekend and in the British St Leger. Other potential runners at the Curragh include Crystal Black for Gerard Keane, Willie Mullins' beaten Ebor favourite Hipop De Loire, and Charlie Appleby's recent Listed winner, Arabian Crown
