The second day of racing at Leopardstown's Christmas Festival features two Grade Ones. While Chacun Pour Soi comfortably heads the market for the Paddy's Reward's Club Chase, the Future Champions Novice Hurdle is looking much less straight forward.

Here's a look at the current odds for this important Grade One.

Ferny Hollow's injury has only increased the likelihood that both Ballyadam and Appreciate It will be pointed at the 2021 Supreme Novices' Hurdle

With Ferny Hollow also owned by Cheveley Park Stud, I had expected Ballyadam to be stepped up in trip come Cheltenham. Despite winning a Grade One over two miles, I think his future lies over the middle distances, and Gordon Elliott may now have to find another horse for the Ballymore.

Appreciate It too looks more of a staying prospect than an out-and-out two-mile hurdler. Willie Mullins' charge was good value for his debut win over hurdles, and bolted up over course-and-distance at the Dublin Racing Festival.

Ballyadam and Appreciate It is clearly the best two prospects in this race. Yet, with ten runners entered up and the chance that both might be a little caught out for pace, I'm tempted to take an each-way punt.

Keskonrisk picked up nicely after the last to claim a narrow win on his hurdle debut, and he has to be respected. As does Joseph O'Brien's other runner, Fire Attack, who was just denied by Fakiera when he made his jumping debut in a Grade Two over two-and-a-half miles.

N'golo brings some decent form to the table, but he looks more of a stayer. Call Me Lyreen has won a Grade Two already this term, but I don't think that form stacks up particularly well.

Then one I'm going to side with is THEDEVILSCOACHMAN, for Mark Walsh and Noel Meade.

Having looked very green when winning on his bumper debut, JP McManus moved quickly to purchase this son of Elusive Pimpernel. Thedevilscoachman then jumped a little out to his right when he made his hurdles debut at Cork, but showed a nice turn-of-foot on heavy ground to quickly put that race to bed after the last.

Meade's four-year-old comfortably beat an odds-on favourite of Willie Mullins' that day. Surprise runner-up, Carrolls Cottage has since come out and won convincingly since, boosting Thedevilscoachman's run even further.

This is a big step up in class, but Thedevilscoachman is clearly a horse with plenty of potential and I fancy chancing with Mark Walsh's mount each-way at 14/1.
