Leopardstown's Christmas Festival is headlined by the Savills Chase. This Grade One chase run over three miles has been won by many of the sport's finest chasers, and those who impress will often go on to contend in the Irish, Cheltenham and Punchestown Gold Cups later in the season.

We've taken a look through the current ante-post betting for the 2020 Savills Chase and highlighted our best bet.

Minella Indo is the firm favourite for this year's Savills Chase. While I'm a huge fan of this talented horse, and I think he could be an excellent bet in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, he doesn't offer much value here.

Henry De Bromhead's charge was impressive on both his opening starts of the season, but he beat little of any note at Wexford and Navan. Minella Indo is in with the last two winners of the Savills Chase, and five other rivals who's won Grade Ones over fences - something which he's yet to achieve. I'm not going to touch Minella Indo at 2/1.

Presenting Percy sits second in the betting, having beaten Kemboy and Monalee to score an overdue victory at Thurles. Now with Gordon Elliott, Presenting Percy is massively respected, but I think there are younger, more dependable options here, most of which sit at more appealing prices.

Paul Townend was still yet to ask Kemboy for an effort when he clattered through the last at Thurles, after which Townend allowed his mount to coast home behind Presenting Percy. Kemboy loves racing at Leopardstown, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him run a great race. Whether he can regain the crown he won in 2018, I'm not so sure.

Henry De Bromhead seems to have decided the time is right to push Cheltenham Festival winner,  A Plus Tard back up to three miles. A Grade One winner over the minimum distance, A Plus Tard was dropped back to two miles after a lengthy defeat on his only previous start over this distance. To challenge in a race this deep after just one previous start over the trip is a very big ask.

Samcro could also step up in trip for the first time, having shaped like a stayer on his first start of the new season. I can't bring myself to back him when there are many proven stayers to chose from, but it will be very interesting to see how he gets on.

I'm not convinced three miles is Allaho's best trip, and Monalee's strike rate over fences is offputting. The Storyteller has returned to form during the summer and has to be respected, but it's his stablemate who I think offers the greatest amount of value.

Having been held up off the pace by Jack Kennedy, DELTA WORK picked up gamely to pip Monalee to the post here 12 months ago. Gordon Elliott's charge then sealed a famous double in the Irish Gold Cup, where he comfortably held Kemboy and Presenting Percy at arm's length to land his fifth Grade One over fences.

With Kennedy out injured, Mark Walsh rode Delta Work in the Gold Cup. Elliott's seven-year-old produced a shocking round of jumping that day, and it was a testament to the guts and quality this horse possesses that he was only beaten six-lengths back in fifth.

After finishing fifth in the Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal on his reappearance, Delta Work slipped down the betting for both the Savills Chase and the 2021 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Yet, Gordon Elliott has always admitted that Delta Work really needs his first run of the season. Last year, Kennedy's mount was beaten 15-lengths in that Grade One before going on to achieve great things, and the pair were only beaten six-lengths behind The Storyteller this time around.

Delta Work is unbeaten in three starts over fences at Leopardstown, and he's sure to have improved from that reappearance at Down Royal. He clearly loves the track, and ground conditions should be ideal. I think he offers tremendous value at 5/1.

Delta Work's record around Leopardstown is exceptional, and to get 5/1 on the defending champion looks excellent value to me!
