2025 Juddmonte International Stakes Entries
It seemed for a while over the weekend that Delacroix wouldn't be running. Aidan O'Brien's Coral-Eclipse winner drifted right out to 6/1 in the market, with stablemate Whirl coming into 4/1 second-favourite.
It was then quite a shock to see Delacroix confirmed as Aidan O'Brien's only runner in Wednesday's feature. The market has adjusted itself accordingly, but that alarming drift has to raise question marks around the market leader and I'm more inclined to side against Delacroix at 2/1.
Danon Decile is a multiple Group One winner who deserves respect, but this will be the sternest test of speed he's ever faced, and Shogo Yasuda's star hasn't run since the Sheema Classic.
See The Fire got outpaced at a crucial stage in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot and has gone through a labourious renewal of the Nassau Stakes since. Daryz might be unbeaten, but his form in France doesn't seem particularly strong and I don't fancy Francis Graffard's mount against the proven older horses.
2025 Juddmonte International Stakes Tips
The obvious answer is OMUDSMAN (2/1), who produced the stand-out performance of the season in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes. John and Thady Gosden's mount settled nicely behind a fast pace, had to weave around to find a clear path to the post, but fairly flew home to win his first Group One by a widening two-length margin.
The early pace was a little more sedate in the Coral Eclipse and William Buick's mount struggled to settle. Ombudsman pulled himself towards the leaders coming down the back straight and was pitch three wide throughout the turn. Ombudsman still managed to pick up to wrestle an advantage at the two pole, but Delacroix caught fire in the closing stages and rattled home to snatch an unlikely victory.
In a bid to ensure an honest gallop throughout, Godolphin has added Birr Castle to Wednesday's field. Rab Havlin will be tasked with setting some fairly fast fractions, which should give Ombudsman the ideal set-up. The gap between himself and Delacroix at the weights has closed by three pounds, and conditions seem perfect for this lightly-raced four-year-old.
