2026 Juddmonte International Stakes Entries
Ombudsman made the most of a pacemaker when storming to victory in this race 12 months ago. John and Thady Gosden's star returns to York on the back of a second emphatic victory in the Prince of Wales's Stakes, and Ombudsman is the even-money favourite to retain his Juddmonte International crown.
The leading three-year-old in this year's race is Aidan O'Brien's Constitution River. Ryan Moore was in the saddle for Constitution River's victories in the Prix du Jockey Club and the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown, and O'Brien's top colt sits closest to Ombudsman in the market.
Item has recorded impressive victories in the Dante Stakes and the York Stakes this season, and could return to York for a crack at this Group One. A Boy Named Susie kept on well to finish second in the Eclipse, and he too could try to make the most of a healthy three-year-old allowance. William Haggas has handed an entry to More Thunder, following three defeats in top one-mile races this term.
Calandagan and Diamond Necklace seem unlikely runners, and I doubt Benvenuto Cellini will run against Constitution River. Francis Graffard could potentially be represented by the unbeaten Zaydann. Dermot Weld has handed an entry to exciting four-year-old Purview. Charlie Appleby's Opera Ballo could step up to ten furlongs for the first time at the Ebor Festival.
Tattersalls Gold Cup winner Almaqam is a likely runner for Ed Walker. Hawk Mountain could join Constitution River in the field again. Other potential runners include Eclipse fourth Saddadd, Tornado Alert for Saeed bin Suroor, Wathnan Racing's Damysus, and Ralph Beckett's York specialist Pride Of Arras.
