2025 Mares' Chase Runners
Dinoblue got the better of Allegorie De Vassy when the two stablemates met at Naas recently, a result which has ensured that Dinoblue will go off as the favourite for this year's Mares' Chase.
Willie Mullins' mare was sent off at 15/8 for this race last year too, but was beaten by Limerick Lace, having been held up by Mark Walsh for much of the contest. Allegorie De Vassy was beaten seven lengths back in fourth last year, having lost out narrowly to Impervious in the 2023 renewal of this Grade Two.
Limerick Lace was heavily backed before her victory in this Grade Two last season, having shown some excellent form throughout the season. Gavin Cromwell's mare then finished tenth in the Grand National at Aintree and her two runs this season offer little encouragement.
Cromwell has handed entries to Only By Night and Bioluminescence, but the latter would need very heavy ground to take part and the former seems more likely to run in the Arkle. Spindleberry beat Bioluminescence in a Listed mares chase recently and looks likely to skip Cheltenham in favour of the Grade One Novices' Chase back at Fairyhouse in April.
Telepathique meteoric rise to prominence continued with a Listed win over Brides Hill at Huntingdon earlier this month and Lucy Wadham's star should take her chance here. Shecouldbeanything collected a series of decent prizes during the early part of the season, and Gordon Elliott's mare could be a player here if the ground was to come up good.
Brides Hill lost little to Telepathique at Huntingdon and her form on better ground is very strong. La Renommee is a former course winner who claimed Listed glory at Doncaster earlier in the season. Fontaine Collonges and Sacre Coeur could also take their places in the final line-up.

2025 Mares' Chase Tips
Dinoblue is going to be very popular in the build-up to this year's Mares' Chase. Willie Mullins' mare is a proven Grade One winner in open company and gave six pounds to Allegorie De Vassy when beating her stablemate in the Opera Hat.
Cheltenham hasn't been a lucky venue for the market leader. Dinoblue has carried short prices into the Mares' Novices' Hurdle, the Grand Annual and the Mares' Chase, and has failed to win on all three occasions. The favourite will have to give the field weight once again and, despite a strong finish to push Limerick Lace 12 months ago, I'm still not convinced that two-and-a-half miles is her favourite trip.
Even without Only By Night and Bioluminescence, Gavin Cromwell will play a strong hand. Could the defending champion, Limerick Lace bounce back? Cromwell's eight-year-old was poor in the Betfair Chase and at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day, but Cromwell said in his stable tour that they've "changed things around with her since her last run" and the old spark could return in time for the Cheltenham Festival.
If the ground is as good as we expect at Cheltenham this year, then BRIDES HILL (12/1) could be the pick of Cromwell's challengers. Gavin's eight-year-old missed out when the rain arrived 12 months ago, but went on to hammer Allegorie De Vassy and Instit with a wide-margin success at the Punchestown Festival. Although she's been beaten on her two starts in Britain this term, she was carrying a penalty on both occasions.
TELEPATHIQUE (11/1) got the better of Brides Hill when the two met in the Lady Protectress. Lucy Wadham's mare has improved 45 pounds since being pointed at a fence in October and two of her most impressive performances have come around the left-handed, undulating track at Cheltenham.
I won't be backing either Brides Hill or Telepathique until the final field has been confirmed. If more support comes for Dinoblue and Limerick Lace gets backed in again, then both could drift out to more appealing each-way prices. Plus, good ground would be crucial to their chances.
Verdict
Brides Hill and Telepathique bring some strong form into this year's Mares' Chase and, on decent ground, both would hold each-way claims. I won't be backing either, however, until the going has been confirmed.
