Having successfully covered for Constitution Hill in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle, Sir Gino made his chasing debut at Kempton's Christmas Festival. Nicky Henderson's star came up against the then Arkle favourite Ballyburn, but Nico de Boinville's mount brushed Willie Mullins' raider aside with a brilliant victory in the Wayward Lad and was immediately cut into odds-on favouritism for the Cheltenham Festival.

In Sir Gino's absence, Majborough held off Kargese to win the Triumph Hurdle at last year's Festival. Willie Mullins' strapping five-year-old cruised to an impressive victory on his chasing debut, leaving himself and Sir Gino a good way clear of the chasing pack in the Arkle market.

Majborough's stablemate, Ile Atlantique jumped up to third in the betting following a five-length victory in the Grade Two Novices' Chase on Lawlor's Of Naas day. Dan and Harry Skelton could team up with L'Eau Du Sud, who made it three-from-three over fences when winning the Henry VIII Novices' Chase at Sandown.

Ballyburn is sure to be given an Arkle entry, but his future now lies over longer distances. Kauto Star winner, The Jukebox Man and Faugheen Novices' Chase winner, Impaire Et Passe will also likely be entered, but both are more likely to meet Ballyburn in the Brown Advisory.

Inthepocket remains on-course for the Arkle, despite a poor performance behind Ile Atlantique at Naas. The runner-up that day, Firefox could also remain over two miles for the time being. Mistergif thrust himself into the Arkle equation when beating stablemates Tullyhill and Asian Master on his chasing debut at Fairyhouse.

Other potential runners on day one of the Cheltenham Festival include Kieran Burke's Desert Orchid winner Soul Icon, Paul Nicholls' Kalif Dur Berlais, Sir Gino's stablemate Jango Baie, and last year's Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner, Slade Steel.
