2024 Ultima Handicap Chase Entries
The Ultima is one of the few races at Cheltenham where Irish raiders have a poor record. The Goffer finished fourth in this race 12 months ago and Gordon Elliott's star sits prominently in the ante-post market. As does Willie Mullins' Meetingofthewaters, who landed a big handicap at Leopardstown over Christmas.
Last year's Kim Muir runner-up, Stumptown shot up the betting following an impressive win here at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. Inothewayurthinkin has also been entered by Gavin Cromwell. James Du Berlais, Minella Cocooner, Bronn, Classic Getaway, Glengouly and Cool Survivor could also represent Irish connections.
Kim Bailey's novice Chianti Classico sits prominently in the market, along with Grand National entrant and last year's third Monbeg Genius. Richard Bandey's Theatre Man could also make an appearance on day one of the Cheltenham Festival. Corach Rambler has been entered again too, but looks more likely to run in the Gold Cup.
Other possible home runners include Jonjo O'Neill's Crebilly, Demnat for Venetia Williams, Lucinda Russell's novice Giovinco and Ben Pauling's nine-year-old, Twig.
