Cheltenham Festival 2024 Tips - 14/1 shot has a rite chance in the Kim Muir

Good Time Jonny has been slashed into 5/1 favouritism for the Kim Muir since the entries were revealed. AJ Martin's nine-year-old won the Pertemps Final on this day 12 months ago and will likely be ridden by Derek O'Connor, given he partnered Good Time Jonny at Naas earlier in the season. 

Despite his success over hurdles, the market leader is yet to finish better than fourth in any of his chase starts, suffering 23, 71, 58, 37 and 27-length defeats. To call him an eye-catcher at Leopardstown last time out is a stretch, considering how far he was beaten, and two horses fell at the final flight. Good Time Jonny will be having his sixth start over fences at Fairyhouse this afternoon and if that doesn't go to plan, then I wouldn't be surprised if Martin reverted back to hurdles.

I picked out four handicappers to follow back in January. Broadway Boy wasn't entered for the Ultima. Lecky Watson didn't receive a Martin Pipe entry, and Frero Banbou's Grand Annual chances have diminished in recent weeks. I did, however, back AMIRITE (14/1) at 20/1 for the Kim Muir and Henry De Bromhead's contender is still available at around 14/1.

Having impressed in several Graded races during his novice campaign, Amirite was backed into favouritism for last year's Irish Grand National, but failed to fire on the big day. On his reappearance in October, De Bromhead sent his eight-year-old for a sighter at Cheltenham, where Rachael Blackmore's mount finished a tired fourth, having been outjumped by race-fit stablemate Whacker Clan throughout the contest.

With a first-time tongue-tie fitted, Amirite ran an encouraging race at Leopardstown over Christmas. Rachael Blackmore held her mount up out the back, before keeping on well to place fifth behind Meetingofthewaters. 

The British handicapper rated Amirite at 142 in October, meaning he'll have no trouble making the final field for the Kim Muir. De Bromhead has saddled top six finishers in two of the last four renewals of this handicap, and Plan Of Attack was challenging when he fell late on in 2021. Leading point-to-point riders, Barry O'Neill and Jack Hendrick have ridden for Henry in the Kim Muir, and I'm sure plenty of crack amateurs will be lining up to partner with this classy stayer at the Cheltenham Festival.
