Hear from Richard Hannon and Roger Teal, as their stable stars prepare to clash for the first time in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.

Two of last year's Classic winners will make their reappearance in Saturday's Lockinge Stakes. Notable Speech got the better of Rosallion when they met in the 2000 Guineas at Leopardstown. Richard Hannon's star bounced back by winning the Irish version of that Classic at the Curragh, before turning Notable Speech over when winning the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Hannon didn't manage to get another run into Rosallion in 2024, but has been busy training his stable star for the Lockinge during the off-season. Speaking to the press this weekend, Hannon seemed sweet on his stable star's chances.

"I'm extremely happy with Rosallion," said Hannon. "He's the apple of my eye and his win at Royal Ascot was one of the best day's racing I've ever had. It was galling to finish second and third in the 2,000 Guineas, but we made up for it in the Irish Guineas and the Lagardere too."

"He's coming from almost a year off and it's hard for them after a layoff, so we've done a fair bit hoping he'll go to Newbury match-fit."

"He's been on the go a fair while now and we took him to Kempton a couple of times alongside a trip to Newbury, so he's done plenty to get in shape. He's going very well and we're looking forward to it. He's been a very good friend to me and hopefully it continues."

Sitting between Rosallion and Notable Speech in the market Dancing Gemini. Roger Teal's star was a bit of a nearly horse at three, but has returned in 2025 with two sparkling victories, scoring in the Doncaster Stakes and the bet365 Mile at Sandown last time out.

Kieran Shoemark, who has been in the headlines for all of the wrong reasons recently, looked set to reprise his partnership with Dancing Gemini this weekend. However, Teal spoke to Nick Luck on Tuesday morning and confirmed that Champion Jockey, Ryan Moore has been booked for the ride instead.

"Rossa Ryan rode him the other day at Sandown because Kieran had other commitments with the Gosdens." Teal explained.

"What's happened since has freed up Kieran, but Ryan Moore is also available.

"It's been a tough decision by the owner. We've spoken every day for an hour making this decision, but you know, Ryan Moore is Ryan Moore at the end of the day and we've got to give ourselves the best chance."

"I'm not saying the other boys aren't capable, they're brilliant, but when Ryan Moore throws his hat into the ring it's hard to say no. We don't want to kick Kieran when he's down, but it's just one of those things the way its worked out."
