A quality field lined up in this afternoon's Lockinge Stakes, a Group One that has been won by legends like Brigadier Gerard and Frankel down the years.
Irish 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes hero, Rosallion made his four-year-old reappearance at Newbury, but Richard Hannon's star was weak in the betting during the build-up. Dancing Gemini came into the Lockinge on the back of two impressive wins this season and Ryan Moore's mount was backed into favouritism before the off.
Notable Speech beat Rosallion in the 2000 Guineas last term and he represented Charlie Appleby. Sun Chariot winner, Tamfana and 2023 Moyglare heroine, Fallen Angel took on the colts in this year's Lockinge.
John & Thady Gosden landed this race with Audience 12 months ago and Lead Artist represented the training duo this year. Richard Hannon's second-string Persica, and William Knight's Checkandchallenge completed the line-up.

Kieran Shoemark, who was riding Fallen Angel for the first time, took Karl Burke's filly straight to the front from stall five. Tom Marquand and Persica set off in hot pursuit of the leader, with Lead Artist also up with the early pace
Ryan Moore and Dancing Gemini slotted in to the second rank from their low draw in stall one. Tamfana and Rosallion also tracked the leading trip, with Notable Speech and Checkandchallenge held up at the rear.
At the halfway stage, the first three opened up a small gap on the chasing pack. Rosallion moved stealthily into contention. Ryan Moore was looking for gaps on Dancing Gemini. Rossa Ryan tried to push Tamfana into a position to challenge, but found the door slammed in his face.
As Fallen Angel and Persica began to fall away, Lead Artist found more and moved into a slim advantage. Dancing Gemini powered into contention and edged his way into a narrow lead. Just as the punters began to rejoice, Lead Artist shifted into top gear, wrestling the advantage back from Dancing Gemini and holding firm to claim a narrow victory.
Rosallion looked a little one-paced in the closing stages, but Richard Hannon will have been pleased with his star's third-place finish. Notable Speech was a little keen early on, but also kept on well to finish a close fourth.
