Having picked up his 11th win in the Oaks on Friday, Aidan O'Brien saddled three of the first four in the betting ahead of the 2025 Epsom Derby.
Ryan Moore opted to ride Ballysax winner Delacroix and O'Brien's colt entered the stalls as the 15/8 favourite. The Lion In Winter was also fancied, despite a poor return in the Dante. Aidan's supposed third-string, Chester Vase winner Lambourn was the most-backed horse on Derby day, coming into 13/2 just before the off.
Charlie Appleby withdrew 2000 Guineas winner, Ruling Court on account of the softer ground. Dante winner, Pride Of Arras remained in the field, with Ralph Beckett's second-string Stanhope Gardens and French raider Midak coming in for support.
18 runners entered the stalls at Epsom. Damysus, Nightwalker and Tuscan Hills were hoping to improve for their efforts in the Dante. Tornado Alert was last seen finishing fourth in the 2000 Guineas. Al Wasl Storm and Green Storm represented Green Team Racing. Tennessee Stud, New Ground and Lazy Griff also featured in the line-up.

Aidan O'Brien always likes to have a runner making the pace in big races, so it was no surprise to see the strong-staying Lambourn go straight to the front from stall 10. Damysus was keen to go forward from his wide draw, with Lazy Griff going forward from stall three.
The Lion In Winter and Pride Of Arras started well, but struggled to slot in from out wide. Delacroix had just four horses behind him in the realy stages, with Nightime Dancer and Nightwalker sitting at the rear.
At the top of the bend, Wayne Lordan opened up a two-length lead aboard Lambourn. Midak travelled smoothly up to fourth, with Lazy Griff sitting closest to the leader. Pride Of Arras came under pressure early, as The Lion In Winter began to hang down the camber of the track.
With three furlongs to travel, Lambourn's lead had stretched to five lengths. O'Brien's Chester Vase winner showed no signs of weakening late on. 24 hours after his narrow defeat aboard Whirl, Wayne Lordan punched the air as he handed Aidan O'Brien his 12th Derby.
Lazy Griff kept on to finish a clear second, with very few horses getting into the mix from off the pace. One who did was Tennessee Stud, who kept on down the rail to finish third ahead of the staying-on New Ground and Stanhope Gardens.
