The 2026 Goodwood Cup kicks off Glorious Goodwood with a highly anticipated rematch between Scandinavia—last year’s winner—and Trawlerman, the current odds second-favorite following their Ascot Gold Cup showdown. Rahiebb, Caballo De Mar, and Lazy Griff are among the prominent contenders challenging the top two. Several others, including Miss Alpiles and Dubai Future, are making strong entries, while Al Riffa appears unlikely to run. Expect a competitive field with Scandinavia favored for another victory.

2026 Goodwood Cup Entries

Following their stunning showdown in the Ascot Gold Cup, Scandinavia and Trawlerman will do battle again on the opening day of Glorious Goodwood. Scandinavia won this race as a three-year-old last season, and returns to defend his crown. Trawlerman ran a mighty race on his belated reappearance at Royal Ascot, and sits second behind his rival in the Goodwood betting.

Rahiebb takes on the top two again, despite a disappointing performance at the Royal meeting. Caballo De Mar was virtually tailed off at Ascot having tried to hang with the pace-setters. Miss Alpiles, Carmers and Dubai Future finished fifth, sixth and ninth respectively in the Ascot Gold Cup, and all three have been entered up at Goodwood.

Lazy Griff will represent Charlie Johnston, after a comfortable victory in the Marathon at Sandown. Amiloc could step up to two miles for the first time, having shaped like a stayer when fifth in the Hardwicke Stakes. Illinois narrowly got the better of French Master when the two met in the Queen Alexandra Stakes, and both hold an entry to the feature race on day one of Glorious Goodwood.

Al Riffa is an unlikely runner, with the Irish St Leger firmly on his agenda. Sir Mark Prescott has entered lightly-raced four-year-old Consent. James Owen's three-year-old Ranga Tang, last seen finishing third in the Queen's Vase, also features in the entries.
