Shadow Of Light emerged victorious in the 2024 Dewhurst Stakes, completing a rare double alongside the Middle Park Stakes. Due to The Lion In Winter's withdrawal from the race, the field was reduced, with Shadow Of Light starting as the favorite. The event saw an exciting split in the field and a late surge, leading to Shadow Of Light's one-length win. This win places the horse as an 8/1 favorite for the 2025 2000 Guineas. A depleted field entered the stalls ahead of Saturday's Dewhurst Stakes, after favourite The Lion In Winter suffered a stone bruise on the morning of the contest.
Shadow Of Light, who was supplemented into the race by Godolphin after winning the Middle Park Stakes, started as the even-money favourite. Stablemate Ancient Truth was looking to remain unbeaten after scoring in the Superlative Stakes.
With The Lion In Winter out of the contest, Ryan Moore jumped into the saddle of Expanded, who entered Group One company having only made a winning racecourse debut at the Curragh last week.
Hugo Palmer was looking to spoil Coolmore and Godolphin's party with Seagulls Eleven, who ran well when third on his Group One debut in Ireland. Aidan O'Brien's second runner, Rock Of Cashel completed the field.

Rock Of Cashell had been expected to make the running. However, O'Brien's outsider was the slowest out of the gates and Wayne Lordan was in no hurry to get to the front.
After a furlong, the field split into two groups. Seagulls Eleven led Shadow Of Light and Rock Of Cashell down the centre of the track. Ancient Truth took the lead from Expanded along the stand's side rail.
Passing the bushes, it became clear that the group on the near side had the advantage. William Buick pushed Shadow Of Light past Seagulls Eleven and, in an attempt to balance out the track bias, he left the favourite drift over towards his stablemate.
Ancient Truth and Expanded were having a ding-dong battle along the rail. Shadow Of Light was level with the two when he tracked over and once he joined his stablemate, Buick's mount moved on again, eventually claiming a one-length victory.
Despite his inexperience, Expanded ran a fantastic race, edging out Ancient Truth to finish closest to the market leader. Seagulls Eleven and Rock Of Cashell finished a long way behind the leaders.
Before today, only four horses had won the Middle Park and the Dewhurst Stakes in the same season. Upon joining that illustrious group, Shadow Of Light received quotes of 8/1 for the 2025 2000 Guineas from bet365.
