The final leg of the US Triple Crown takes place on Saturday, as a field of talented three-year-olds take part in the Belmont Stakes. This historic race will be staged at Saratoga for the next two years while Belmont Park undergoes building work, meaning this Classic will be run over a shorter distance of a mile-and-a-quarter.

Despite his defeat in the Kentucky Derby, Sierra Leone is the clear favourite to win Saturday's Classic, with 6/4 the best price you can find on Chad Brown's Blue Grass Stakes winner. Mindframe steps into Group company for the first time, but Todd Pletcher's unbeaten colt still sits second in the market.
Mystik Dan held off Sierra Leone to win the Kentucky Derby, before finishing second in the Preakness Stakes three weeks ago. The surprise winner that day was Seize The Grey, who'll make his second Classic start of the season for D Wayne Lukas.
Honor Marie couldn't make up late ground after a rough ride in the Kentucky Derby and Florent Geroux will be hoping for a smoother passage on Saturday. Dornoch and Resilience will also be having their first starts since finishing down the field in the Derby.
Antiquarian will also represent Todd Pletcher, after winning the Peter Pan Stakes last month. The Wine Steward and Protective, second and third in the Peter Pan, round off Saturday's field.

2024 Belmont Stakes Tips
There's no doubt in my mind that SIERRA LEONE (6/4) is the most talented colt in this field. I was all over Chad Brown's star heading into the Kentucky Derby, having backed Sierra Leone to win the Blue Grass Stakes on his final prep-run before Churchill Downs.
As expected, Flavien Prat took his time at the rear, following Forever Young into contention around the outside of the field. Mystik Dan had stolen a three-length lead coming out of the bend and, although he was made to work hard in the closing stages, that manoeuvre from Brian Hernandez proved to be a winning one.
Sierra Leone was only beaten a nose in the end, and might have claimed victory had he and Forever Young not bumped each other at numerous times down the stretch. After the race, Prat said his mount was still a little bit green. Skipping the Preakness to prepare for Saratoga should have done him plenty of good.
Given his running style, Sierra Leone needs a fast early pace and he should get just that. Seize The Grey won the Preakness from the front and Mystik Dan won't be too far away. I'd be surprised if Dornoch wasn't pushed forward early and the inexperienced but speedy Mindframe - who runs in a Classic on just his third lifetime start - will be fast out of the gates from his wide post position.
Sierra Leone is by far the best closer in this field and won the Risen Star on a sloppy track, so Brown won't be concerned by the wet forecast. The favourite is, undoubtedly, the one to beat.

Verdict
With only ten runners in the field and the three coming in from the Peter Pan Stakes looking below Classic standard, there's little-to-no scope for an each-way bet in Saturday's Belmont Stakes. I liked Sierra Leone going into the Kentucky Derby and this race should be run to suit. He'll be my sole selection.
