The 2026 Hackwood Stakes at Newbury promises a thrilling race featuring both experienced sprinters and rising stars. Bookmakers see Soldier's Tree and Binhareer as leading contenders, though the competition is tight. Notably, Binhareer is tipped as the best bet thanks to his proven form and favorable draw. With fast ground expected, experts believe Binhareer is primed to clinch Group Three glory, making him a strong selection for punters looking for value.

2026 Hackwood Stakes Runners
The bookmakers clearly feel the Wokingham form is the strongest on offer here. Soldier's Tree kept on well to finish third in that handicap, having run into traffic when third behind Almeraq at Salisbury on his previous start. Binhareer could only finish sixth as favourite in the Wokingham, but remains open to improvement as he steps into Pattern company for the first time.
Carnarvon Stakes winner Song Of The Clyde is the sole three-year-old representative, and Clive Cox's star will receive 5lb from his older rivals in this Group Three. Cox will also be represented by the enigmatic Jasour, who'll be ridden by P. J. McDonald for the first time.
William Buick and Charlie Appleby team up with former Sandy Lane Stakes winner Symbol Of Honour, who was drawn in stall one on Thursday. Mitbaahy, fifth in the Wokingham, represents Charlie Hills. Ed Walker's former Jersey Stakes winner Noble Champion completes Saturday's line-up.
2026 Hackwood Stakes Tips
There's very little to separate the seven runners on form or ratings. The handicappers at the head of the market remain capable of further improvement, while several of their rivals bring valuable course form into the contest.
I'm going to chance my arm with BINHAREER (4/1), as I fancy both the track and the likely pace set-up will suit William Haggas' grey.
Binhareer was thrown into handicap company quickly in 2025 and ran solid races in defeat at Newmarket, Ascot and in the Ayr Silver Cup. Having ended his campaign with an impressive handicap success at York, Haggas' sprinter returned to the Knavesmire for his seasonal reappearance during the Dante Festival, where Tom Marquand's mount was narrowly beaten into second by Dark Thirty.
Binhareer was slowly away in the Wokingham and had to switch sharply left to mount his challenge. Marquand's mount kept on well, but could only finish sixth, some three and a half lengths behind Double Rush.
Noble Champion, Soldier's Tree and Song Of The Clyde are likely to force the pace on Saturday, and Binhareer has been drawn perfectly in stall four to track the leaders. Fast ground should be ideal for this talented gelding, and I have no doubt he is capable of winning at Group Three level.
