2023 Cheltenham Gold Cup Entries
Defending champion, A Plus Tard heads a classy list of 23 chasers who've been entered in this year's Gold Cup. Despite his flop in the Betfair Chase and inactivity since, Henry De Bromhead's star remains the second-favourite to retain his crown.
Topping the Gold Cup betting with bet365 is Galopin Des Champs, who's only defeat as a novice came at Cheltenham last year, where Paul Townend's mount fell at the last when in command of the Turners' Novices' Chase. Since then, Galopin Des Champs has won twice around Punchestown and warmed up for his return to the Festival with an impressive triumph in the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown.
2022 Grand National hero, Noble Yeats sits prominently in the betting, following victory in the Many Clouds Chase and a decent third in the Cotswold Chase. Ahoy Senor was slashed for the Gold Cup after winning the Cotswold Chase, beating Sounds Russian, Noble Yeats and runaway Betfair Chase winner, Protektorat.
After L'Homme Presse was ruled out with injury, Bravemansgame is now the highest-placed British entrant in the Gold Cup betting, following his victory in that prestigious Grade One. Royale Pagaille and Eldorado Allen have been entered up by British connections. As has two-time Cheltenham winner Shishkin, and leading British novice The Real Whacker.
Along with Galopin Des Champs, Willie Mullins could be represented by National Hunt Chase winner Stattler. Former Gold Cup winner, Minella Indo defeated Stattler at Tramore on New Year's Day, and he could return for a third crack at Cheltenham's main event.
Gordon Elliott's hopes lie at the feet of Savills Chase winner Conflated, who could be joined in the Gold Cup by stablemates Galvin and Fury Road. Fellow Irish raider Hewick, who struck in the Galway Plate during the summer, has been handed a Cheltenham Festival entry, along with Capodanno, Envoi Allen and Franco De Port.
