Marie's Rock was produced perfectly by Nico De Boinville to win this race 12 months ago. Nicky Henderson's mare went on to win the equivalent race at Punchestown and, after opening her campaign with an impressive victory in the Cleeve Hurdle, Unibet makes the defending champion their 2/1 favourite.
Henderson had intended on entering former Champion Hurdle winner Epatante, but an accounting error meant her name didn't feature in the initial entries. She could still be supplemented into the race, though, and she currently sits third in the betting, behind last year's Mares' Novices' Hurdle winner, Harry Fry's Love Envoi.
Having dominated this race for a decade, Willie Mullins hasn't won the Mares' Hurdle for the last four years in a row. Ireland's Champion Trainer could be represented by Grade One winning novice, Brandy Love. Shewearsitwell, Echoes In Rain, Gauloise, and Braganza could also represent Mullins at the Cheltenham Festival.
Two-time Champion Hurdle winner Honeysuckle has been handed an entry, but her owner, Kenny Alexander has said it would be the Champion Hurdle or nothing for his formerly unbeaten superstar. Alexander and Henry De Bromhead have entered up Telmesomethinggirl, with Gordon Elliott likely to be solely represented by last year's runner-up, Queens Brook.
Dan Skelton will be hoping West Balboa, Marada, Molly Ollys Wishes or Get A Tonic could follow in the footsteps of 2019 winner Roksana. Santa Rossa, Anna Bunina, Skyace and Ailie Rose could represent Irish connections at the Cheltenham Festival. Other notable entrants include Tom Symonds' French recruit, Royale Margaux and former Martin Pipe winner, Indefatigable.
