The 2025 Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival is generating excitement as Teahupoo, under Gordon Elliott, emerges as a favorite following a victorious run in 2024. Key contenders include Home By The Lee and Crambo, known for impressive wins at Leopardstown and Ascot respectively. While Lossiemouth caused an upset in Hatton’s Grace, Elliott is optimistic as Teahupoo preps for a direct shot to Cheltenham. Other notable entries include Lucky Place and Blueking d'Oroux, promising a competitive lineup. Fans eagerly await the action unfolding at Prestbury Park.

The third day of the Cheltenham Festival is headlined by the Stayers' Hurdle. Having finished third the previous season, Gordon Elliott's Teahupoo justified short-priced favouritism with an excellent victory in the 2024 renewal and he'll bid for back-to-back victories on his return to Prestbury Park in March.

Here's the betting for the 2025 Stayers' Hurdle and a look at the headline entries.

2025 Stayers' Hurdle Entries

Gordon Elliott won't have been too disappointed to see Teahupoo beaten by Lossiemouth in the Hatton's Grace, given how the race was run. Like last year, Elliott has decided to go straight from Fairyhouse to Cheltenham and the defending champion is best priced at 13/8 to retain his crown in March.

The nearest challenger to Teahupoo in the market is Home By The Lee, who won the Grade One at Leopardstown's Christmas Festival for second time in December. Lossiemouth, Ballyburn and Corbetts Cross remain prominent in the market, but none are remotely likely to take in the Stayers' Hurdle this season.

Fergal O'Brien's Crambo will lead the home charge, having defended his Long Walk Hurdle crown at Ascot before Christmas. Coral Cup fourth, Lucky Place has progressed nicely this term, winning the Coral Hurdle and the Relkeel at Cheltenham on New Year's Day.

The Wallpark and Hiddenvalley Lake drifted out to 20/1 for the Stayers' Hurdle, despite both running with credit behind Crambo in the Long Walk. Strong Leader was another big drifter, having finished stone dead last as the favourite at Ascot.

I Am Maximus could revert back to hurdles before attempting to defend his Grand National crown. Losange Bleu could make the journey over from France. Other potential runners at the Cheltenham Festival include two-time Coral Cup winner Langer Dan, last year's Supreme runner-up Mystical Power, Pertemps Final winner Monmiral, and his stablemate at Paul Nicholls' yard, Blueking d'Oroux.
