The opening day of racing at the Dublin Racing Festival is headlined by the Irish Gold Cup. This prestigious Grade One has been won by many of Ireland's finest chasers and it's the defending champion who dominates the betting for this year's renewal.

2024 Irish Gold Cup Tips - Galopin Des Champs
It's incredibly hard to side against GALOPIN DES CHAMPS, especially after that romp in the Savills Chase. Willie Mullins' Gold Cup is better suited by Leopardstown than any other track, even Cheltenham, as speed is his greatest asset. His victories in the Savills Chase and this race 12 months ago are easily the best pieces of Leopardstown form on offer.
Fastorslow cannot be underestimated, given that he's beaten Galopin Des Champs on the two occasions they've met. Martin Brassil's star has to prove he can do the same around Leopardstown, as both victories came at Punchestown, where Galopin Des Champs has never truly been at his best. The ground may be turning in Fastorslow's favour, but the market leader certainly won't be inconvenienced by better ground.
Conflated's form has dropped down a level this season, forcing Gordon Elliott to aim the 2022 Irish Gold Cup winner at the Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham. For all I Am Maximus ran well in the Savills Chase, he was still beaten 31 lengths by Galopin Des Champs, and I can't see the equally slow Coko Beach getting any closer than that.
There's no value in the each-way market. I almost made some profit backing Fury Road in the "betting without the favourite" market in this race 12 months ago, but there's no hope of delving into that special this time around. It's a completely unoriginal selection, but given his overwhelming strength and the lack of alternatives, Galopin Des Champs is the obvious winner.

Verdict
I'd love to see Fastorslow make a race of it, as this Dublin Racing Festival seems like it will be another Willie Mullins benefit. Yet, his record around Leopardstown and that win in the Savills Chase makes Galopin Des Champs unopposable to me.
