Two Group One races will be run at the Curragh on Sunday. Auguste Rodin makes his return to action in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, before a classy field of fillies' does battle in the Irish 1000 Guineas.

Here are our best betting tips for Sunday's card at the Curragh.

Curragh Tips - Sunday 26th May


2:35pm Curragh - Lanwades Stud Stakes Tips


On ratings, Rogue Millennium should take plenty of beating. However, there's a chance that Joseph O'Brien's recruit could need the outing on her first start of the season and being drawn in stall one is hardly ideal.

Decent ground on Sunday should suit VILLANOVA QUEEN (11/1), who has produced all of her best performances on this sort of going. Jessica Harrington's mare won the Kensington Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, having opened her campaign with an easy victory at Tipperary.

Shane Foley's mount was held up and couldn't make an inroads on her reappearance at Gowran Park, where the ground was unfavourably heavy. Dropping back to a mile should suit and, as long as the ground remains decent, she's worth an each-way punt.

3:10pm Curragh - Tattersalls Gold Cup Tips


Auguste Rodin either wins well or blows out completely. That sort of horse rarely carries my money. Elegant Man fits into the "could be anything" bracket after four impressive starts on the all-weather, but I'd rather keep the faith with WHITE BIRCH (7/2), who I've backed on both of his starts this season.

Third behind Auguste Rodin in last year's Derby, White Birch opened his season with a narrow victory in the Alleged Stakes, despite the ground turning against him. Colin Keane's mount was more impressive on better ground in the Mooresbridge Stakes, where White Birch sauntered clear of the field to win that Group Two by almost four lengths.

Joseph Murphy seems to have found the ideal trip for his improving grey and conditions on Sunday should be ideal.

4:15pm Curragh - Gallinule Stakes Tips


Having been impressed by his winning debut at Leopardstown, I backed ECUREUIL SECRET (14/1) in the recent Tetrach Stakes. 

Eddie O'Grady's youngster got lit up after stumbling out of the gates and, with none of the other runners keen to go forward, Ecureuil Secret carted his way into an unexpected lead. As the more fancied runners came through to fight out the finish, I was fully expecting O'Grady's colt to fade out the back of the screen. Yet, Oisin Orr's mount fought well along the rail to finish just two lengths adrift of Bright Stripes.

Ecureuil Secret is by an excellent sire of middle-distance horses in Wootton Bassett and his dam saw out a mile-and-a-half comfortably. I'm expecting Ecureuil Secret to relish this step up in trip and Oisin Murphy is an eye-catching jockey booking.
