2024 Falmouth Stakes Result and Replay - Porta Fortuna dominant at Newmarket

With no Aidan O'Brien runners in the field, Ryan Moore took the ride on Porta Fortuna in today's Falmouth Stakes.
Donnacha O'Brien's filly kicked off this season with a narrow defeat in the 1000 Guineas, before claiming her second career Group One victory in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
With Oisin Murphy in fantastic form, Running Lion was backed into second-favouritism during the build-up. Paddy Twomey's three-year-old, A Lilac Rolla was a little weak in the betting but still remained ahead of Rogue Millennium and Jabaara when the stalls burst open at Newmarket.

Running Lion was taken straight to the front by Oisin Murphy. Rogue Millennium was quick out of the blocks too, by William Buick chose to stay down the centre of the track, as the rest of the field tracked over to the inside rail.
Porta Fortuna and A Lilac Rolla sat behind the pacemaking Running Lion. Jabaara was travelling comfortably on the rail early on, with the backmarkers in the betting, Sirona and Magical Sunset waiting at the rear.
At the half-way stage, Oisin Murphy got to work on Running Lion, who quickly dropped out of contention. Ryan Moore took Porta Fortuna to the front with three furlongs to travel and the favourite soon opened up a lead.
Rogue Millennium, to her credit, kept on well after running a solo for much of the race. Jabaara and Sirona made moves from the rear, but with a furlong to travel, Porta Fortuna held a three-length advantage.
Donnacha O'Brien must have been celebrating before his filly hit the line, as the result was never in doubt. Jabaara continued her progression with a fine runner-up finish. Rogue Millennium and A Lilac Rolla dead-heated for second, ahead of Sirona.
