Formerly known as Victor Chandler and VC Bet, BetVictor was founded in the UK in 1946. It was one of the first UK bookmakers to move its business to Gibraltar to avoid higher taxes. Today, still based in Gibraltar, BetVictor is one of Europe’s leading online gaming and sports betting companies.

BetVictor covers all UK and Ireland horse races as well as a selection of international meeting from the USA, South Africa and France. However, it doesn’t offer much from Australia or New Zealand like other bookmakers do.

The betting markets are win, each way, forecast and tricast - which can be straight or reversed. Live streaming is also available on the majority of races, both in the UK and abroad but you need to have a punt of at less £1 on the race to view it.

Punters have a TimeForm racing guide for all local races and it covers some from South Africa, too. This is not as comprehensive as what the Racing Post offers in our opinion. You get an overview of the race followed by some experts predictions.

If you like greyhound racing, BetVictor delivers every single race from the UK and Ireland with Timeform guides plus a few from the US and other countries. Moving to action from overseas, you have all the top American sports such as NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL are available for your betting pleasure. There’s plenty of tennis, golf, rugby, cricket and Aussie rules, too. Market depth could definitely be stronger, with many of these sports way off what you can find elsewhere.

We aren’t going to sugarcoat this, BetVictor’s live betting could be far better. It delivers action from a range of sports, including football, tennis, rugby, golf, table tennis, volleyball and snooker among others. However, the average depth is sub-standard compared to industry rivals. For example, an ITF tennis match covered in-play at BetVictor had 8 betting markets open - the same game at bet365 had 68 markets. 

Also, the digital scoreboard is lacklustre and there are no stats to give you an idea of which markets to bet on. The good news is, placing live bets is easy - and we found the platform to be very responsive, so it only took a couple of seconds to get your money in the game.

BetVictor’s website is functional but it’s by no means the best in class. It offers quick links to featured pages and popular pages which is useful as it does save a little time. There is also a main menu which lists the entire range of sports. 

For players accessing through a mobile device, the layout is slightly different in that there are featured pages across the top and a drop-down menu lists all the other sports.

BetVictor’s calculator provides 26 different bet types for you. Simply tap in the odds and the bet type and see your potential winnings. It can also calculate reverse forecast bets which is something many other calculators don’t offer.

An alternative to using the web-based mobile betting platform is to download the BetVictor mobile app - available for iOS and Android devices. Whilst, we didn’t find the desktop platform as user-friendly as some other bookmakers’, the BetVictor mobile app is much better. 

The BetVictor app is neatly organised and it packs in all on the great features associated with this brand. One of the best features which is only available on the iOS is super-fast Cash Out where you only need to swipe down on your screen. No many bookies have this yet - so it’s another first for BetVictor.
