Pinnacle Sports was founded in 1998. With 20+ years service to its name, the company rebranded to Pinnacle is 2016 after being able to purchase the www.pinnacle.com domain.

Pinnacle made an instant impact on the sports betting industry by slashing the traditional bookmaker margin model which other operators followed. This meant that its odds were better than all others, and whilst the profit margins for each are lower, the higher turnover volume offsets that.

This betting firm is also known as one of the premier sites for esports betting. It was the first mainstream sportsbook to open markets on esports events in 2010 and Pinnacle now claims that this market is its 7th largest in terms of betting volume - eclipsing both golf and rugby.

Horse racing fans will be pleased to hear that Pinnacle has recently added racing to the list of sports available to bet on on their website.

Compared to other bookmakers, this section of the Pinnacle website is still fairly basic. Users can bet on all UK and Irish races taking place that day, plus a selection of International meetings. Jockey and trainer information is displayed on each racecard, along with weight, age, recent form figures and the odds.

On Pinnacle's horse racing home page, the "Next Three" box allows users to quickly access the three next three races that will be taking place. Markets for the following two days of racing can also be selected via the tabs on the homepage.

The soccer tab, which is the most popular sport with this sportsbook, is headlined by the giant European leagues plus the Champions League and Europa League. You have 29 countries in total with a combined effort of 85 leagues. There are sportsbooks that offer more in terms of soccer betting markets, but we think this is still a healthy number.

Pinnacle delivers plenty of action on several other sports besides soccer and horse racing. Baseball comes from the MLB, Japan, Mexico and South Korea. Ice hockey includes the NHL along with leagues from Russia, Sweden, Norway, Austria and Czech Republic among others. 

Basketball is one of the larger sections of the website, with games from 25 different countries included. Tennis is well backed as well, so are American football, esports, cricket and golf. Essentially, although the market depth is not like a regular online bookmaker, the coverage of matches and games is spot on throughout.

The Pinnacle live betting interface can best be described as basic. There is no match visualisation centre and no game stats provided. It is all rather basic to be honest. We get the impression that this betting site has rested on its laurels somewhat. As it no longer offers market-leading odds, it definitely needs to up its game throughout to become a serious player in this competitive industry.

Pinnacle added an online casino to its suite in 2004 and it’s grown ever since. Our recommendation is to use the Pinnacle mobile site - even if you’re on a desktop (there’s a link at the bottom of the page which allows you to switch). This does away with the banners and you get an instant list of featured games to browse. A quick click takes you to the heart of the action. From there, bet placement only takes a few seconds and you have skin in the game. 

A native Pinnacle sports mobile app is available to download for iOS and Android devices. The iOS app can only be downloaded from Canada, Sweden, Finland and the Ukraine. The Pinnacle android app is worldwide.

The app, which is called Pinnacle Lite, covers all of the same sports and markets as the web-based site offers. But, you get added features where you can track the odds with a visual graph display and set alerts so when it hits a certain price you can get your money in the game. It has a simple design with a main slider menu so finding your way around is easy. You can do your banking with the peace of mind knowing that the platform is SSL protected and it’s responsive which makes betting in-play quick and easy.

If your currency is set to pound sterling (GBP), you can withdraw to all of the above options with the exception of credit cards.
