Favourite to win this year's renewal is Life Is Good, who travels to Dubai on the back of victories in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile and the Pegasus World Cup. Todd Pletcher's charge was drawn on the rail in stall one and Elliott Walden, president of owners was pleased with Tuesday's outcome.

“It’s an 11-horse field. He has enough time to get over, and has enough speed to put himself in a good position." Walden told the press.

"It’s been amazing. He has a beautiful way of moving, I think he knows he’s special. It is just a blessing to have him. It’s a great honour to be favourite. We feel grateful to have him.”

It's thought that a low draw is better than a high draw in the Dubai World Cup. It pays to be up with the pace throughout and the first turn comes up very quickly, so being drawn on the rail can help.

The stats, however, tell us that you can win from out wide. Nine of the last ten winners of this Group One were drawn in stall six or wider, so a low post position for Life Is Good is not a death for the rest of the runners.

Saaed bin Suroor, trainer of two-time Dubai World Cup winner Thunder Snow, was delighted when his challenger, Real World was placed in stall six.

“I’m very happy with that, we’ve got the best draw,” Bin Suroor said. “This was always the plan for him and we’ve always trained him on the all-weather track at home. He’s always shown his form really well on that and he’s trained really well so I’m very happy with him."

"He worked last Saturday and it was the best work I’ve ever seen, clocking 1 minute 26 seconds on the bridle. He came back very well from his last run, his draw is brilliant and Christophe (Soumillon) the jockey knows the track very well."

Saudi Cup second and third, Country Grammer and Midnight Bourbon were placed in gates five and eight respectively. Current second-favourite, Hot Rod Charlie will be looking for a fast start out of gate seven.

Hypothetical made the running from stall two last year, but he'll find it much harder to get to the front from gate 10. Bhupat Seemar's local challenge, Remorse was drawn in the widest stall of all, stall 11.
