Delacroix has moved into solo-favouritism for the 2025 Epsom Derby, following two victories in key trials this term.
Aidan O'Brien's colt progressed throughout his two-year-old campaign in 2024. Following a runner-up finish in the Champions Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown, Delacroix landed the Autumn Stakes on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket, before an agonising defeat to Hotazhell in the Group One Futurity Trophy.
Ryan Moore's mount returned to action with an easy victory in the Ballysax Stakes, beating future Chester Vase winner Lambourn by two lengths. Delacroix then warmed up for the Derby with an even more impressive win in the Leopardstown Derby Trial, after which Aidan O'Brien said it would be hard for Ryan Moore to ride any other horse in this year's Derby.
Delacroix will wear the purple and white silks of owners Derrick Smith, John Magnier and Michael Tabor. O'Brien's challenger is currently number three on the list of Derby entries, but his number will change once the field has been confirmed.
