Aidan O'Brien has saddled five of the last nine winners of the Dewhurst, and three of those have returned an odds-on price. The firm favourite for this year's renewal is O'Brien's Acomb Stakes winner The Lion In Winter, who was cut into odds-on favouritism after Acomb runner-up, Wimbledon Hawkeye won the Royal Lodge.

The Lion In Winter came back out to odds-against on Monday when Charlie Appleby announced that Shadow Of Light would be supplemented into Saturday's contest. William Buick's mount powered to victory in the Middle Park Stakes three weeks ago, and Appleby has decided to roll the dice with his top juvenile.

Charlie Appleby will also be represented on Saturday by unbeaten Superlative Stakes winner, Ancient Truth as Godolphin's top trainer looks to land this Group One for a third time. The Lion In Winter could be joined in the field by stablemates Aftermatch, Expanded and Rock Of Cashel.

Wimbledon Hawkeye, Bay City Roller and Field Of Gold all came out of the Dewhurst at the seven-day declaration stages. The only other runner not owned by either Coolmore of Godolphin is Hugo Palmer's Seagulls Eleven, who was beaten by Ancient Truth in the Superlative Stakes before a fine third in the Group One National Stakes last time out.
