2025 Fillies' Mile Runners
Two fillies sit atop the betting for Friday's Group One feature. Precise won the Moyglare Stud Stakes on her most recent start, and has moved into clear favouritism since being confirmed by Aidan O'Brien. Colin Keane has been booked to ride Legacy Link, who ran out an impressive winner on her second start for the Gosdens at Haydock.
Charlie Appleby's hopes of a second-straight victory in this Group One rest on the shoulders of Dance To The Music, despite her disappointing fourth in the Natalma Stakes out in Woodbine. Joseph O'Brien will be represented by Queen Of Hawaii, following her emphatic victory in the Group Three Newtownanner Stud Stakes.
Moments Of Joy, Sugar Island and Composing will also represent Ballydoyle. Luke Morris and Moon Target will bid to bounce back from recent defeats in Group One company. Other runners include Karl Burke's Evolutionist, Charlie Johnston's unbeaten filly Amora Queen, and the experienced Venetian Lace for the same stable.
2025 Fillies' Mile Tips
Joseph O'Brien has only sent two fillies to Newmarket for the Fillies' Mile, and both went on to win. It's clear that he holds QUEEN OF HAWAII (8/1) in very high regard, and I don't think she should be sitting as far away from the market leaders as she is.
Having stayed on from the rear to finish fourth on debut, Queen Of Hawaii scored a comfortable maiden success on her first crack at a mile at Leopardstown. O'Brien's filly then claimed an impressive victory in the Group Three Newtownanner Stud Stakes - formerly known as the Flame Of Tara, and a race that's been won by future Group One winners Opera Singer, Aspen Grove and Magical Lagoon in recent years.
At both Leopardstown and the Curragh, Queen Of Hawaii travelled comfortably on the shoulder of the leaders before forging clear close to home. Dylan Browne McMonagle's mount was doing her best work in the final furlong of both contests, so her proven stamina will come in handy on the stuff Rowley Mile.
I was worried when I saw Queen Of Hawaii had been drawn widest of all in stall 11. However, Sugar Island and Composing will likely go forward from their wide berths and Venetian Lace is another possible pace-angle in stall eight. Queen Of Hawaii could be perfectly positioned to latch onto the front-runners and, from what we've seen in recent starts, she's got more than enough quality to land this prestigious prize.
