This year's Coronation Stakes was billed as a two-horse race, as Aidan O'Brien's leading three-year-old fillies clashed for a third time.

True Love claimed the bragging rights in the 1000 Guineas, with Precise trailing home in seventh. With that run under her belt, Precise improved massively to beat her stablemate in the Irish 1000 Guineas, and Ryan Moore's mount was sent off as the odds-on favourite.

Touleen, sixth in the 1000 Guineas, sat third in the Royal Ascot market ahead of Donnacha O'Brien's returning Breeders' Cup winner Balantina. Black Caviar Gold made the trip over from Ireland to take on O'Brien's leading fillies once again.

Charlie Johnston was represented by German 1000 Guineas winner Timeforshowcasing. Fred Darling winner Sukanya had to break from stall one. Moon Target and Rose Ghaiyyath completed the field.

Moon Target was the first to show down the centre of the track. Black Caviar Gold and Precise were ridden to secure good early positions. Rose Ghaiyyath and Timeforshowcasing were kept wide from their draws, but slotted in at the top of the back straight and made the running together.

Moon Target was racing keenly and dropped back into fourth place, with Black Caviar Gold moving through into third. Ryan Moore sat three wide going into the bend aboard Precise. Sukanya hugged the rail from stall one, with Touleen and True Love held up ahead of Balantina.

Straightening up for home, Ryan Moore took the race by the scruff of the neck. Precise hit the front, but drifted towards the inside rail. True Love and Balantina launched their challenges from the rear as the front-runners gave way, while Touleen moved into contention.

As soon as Precise came under pressure, she began to find more. The odds-on favourite stretched her lead to two lengths at the two-furlong pole, and showed no signs of weakening.

Moon Target wandered off the rail, but was pulled into contention by True Love. Balantina's challenge flattened out, as Touleen made rapid progress down the outside of the field. Owen Burrows' filly was inching closer with every stride, but at the line, Precise was still strong, and Aidan O'Brien celebrated his 100th Royal Ascot winner.

Touleen ran a cracker in second, finishing a nose ahead of True Love and half a length clear of Moon Target, who inconvenienced the second and third by wandering off a true line, but stayed on well to finish fourth.
