2024 Prince Of Wales's Stakes Result and Replay - Auguste Rodin claims sixth Group One win

After Passenger and White Birch were removed from the field, Auguste Rodin was backed into favouritism for the 2024 Prince Of Wales's Stakes.

To add a little extra oomph to this historic Group One, the Gosden's switched Inspiral from the Queen Anne and she sat closest to Aidan O'Brien's dual-Derby winner in the market.

Owen Burrow's Alflaila was backed into 8/1 third-favouritism before the off, as the French duo of Horizon Dore and Blue Rose Cen drifted in the market. Former winner, Lord North also represented the Gosdens, with Royal Rhyme, Zarakem, Hans Anderson and Snobbish completing the field.

Hans Anderson was the perceived pacemaker for Auguste Rodin and he was keen to get to the front early. The backmarker in the market, Snobbish was sent on too, with Royal Rhyme and Auguste Rodin settled behind the leaders. 

After two furlongs, Snobbish had opened up a healthy lead and was setting swift fractions. Kieran Shoemark was happy to hold Inspiral up over this longer trip, with Alflaila, Horizon Dore and Zarakem travelling comfortably in the midfield.

Turning for home, Snobbish gave way and Hans Anderson drifted towards the centre of the track. Auguste Rodin moved menacingly to the front and Ryan Moore began to wind the leader up.

With the inside rail to help, Auguste Rodin opened up a lead. Horizon Dore and one of the less-fancied French raiders, Zarakem moved up for a crack. Zarakem's late charge would have made Aidan O'Brien sweat for a while, but Auguste Rodin held on to secure his sixth Group One success.

Royal Rhyme ran well for a long way on fast ground that wouldn't have suited. Alflaila eventually comes through to finish fourth ahead of Royal Rhyme. Inspiral made late progress to finish sixth, but in truth, she never really featured.
