A truly international field entered the final Group One of Royal Ascot, the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.
Chris Waller's Joliestar flew the flag for Australia, and topped the betting for much of the build-up. However, in the minutes before the off, Japan's leading contender Satono Reve towards the head of the betting, with many punters expecting Ryan Moore's mount to go one better than last year.
William Haggas' Lake Forest was fancied as he dropped back to six furlongs at Royal Ascot. Commanche Brave sat prominently in the market for Donnacha O'Brien. Kind Of Blue and Flora Of Bermuda flew the flag for Wathnan Racing.
Overpass also represented Australia, with Lugal bolstering the Japanese challenge. Sajir was the leading French representative, while Great Wish ran for Danish trainer Bent Olsen.
Khaadem was looking for his third victory in this famous race. Tom Marquand and William Haggas teamed up with Almeraq. Commonwealth Cup winner Time For Sandals stepped back up to six furlongs. Regional, Jasour, Sayidah Dariyan and Aramram completed the field.

There was a delay to the start of the contest, as Sajir knocked over a couple of handlers and Flora Of Bermuda gave James Doyle a hard time. When the starter eventually sent them on their way, Regional bounced out into an early lead, with Overpass helping to force the pace.
Joliestar sat prominently behind Overpass, with Satono Reve forward in the smaller group near the stands' rail. Great Wish came under pressure early, while Flora Of Bermuda lost her action with two furlongs to travel.
The pacemakers soon gave way, and James McDonald asked Joliestar for her effort. Chris Waller's raider hit the front, but Ryan Moore and Satono Reve were hot on the leader's tail.
Eyes were then drawn to Stolen Kiss, who was storming home on the near side of the track. Tom Marquand and Almeraq loomed into contention, and the four runners were neck and neck going into the final 100 yards.
Stolen Kiss couldn't quite catch the leaders. Joliestar buckled late on. Satono Reve and Almeraq hit the line together, but the photo finish saw William Haggas' star come out on top.
Marquand punched the air as the result was announced, and Japanese racing fans were made to wait another year for their first Royal Ascot winner. Joliestar lost nothing in defeat, while Stolen Kiss gained plenty of plaudits with a fourth-place finish.
Lake Forest stormed home from the rear to finish sixth, with Great Wish securing a top-six finish for Denmark. Lugal also ran well for Japan, with Commanche Brave, Sayidah Dariyan and Regional rounding off the top ten.
