2024 Yorkshire Oaks Tips
The Gosden's progressive four-year-old, Queen Of The Pride tops the betting for Thursday's Yorkshire Oaks. Oisin Murphy's mount has done nothing but improve since making her debut last August, and steps up to Group One company for the first time following an emphatic victory in the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock.
She'll be joined in the field by stablemate Emily Upjohn - the only multiple Group One winner in the field, but seasonal performances suggest that she's on a downward curve. Mistral Star and Sea Theme will also represent the older generation, following impressive Listed wins last time out.
Older horses have, however, struggled in recent runnings of the Yorkshire Oaks. Three-year-olds have won eight of the last ten renewals, with only a two-time Arc winner, Enable and a future Arc heroine, Alpinista registering victories over the Classic generation.
Irish Oaks winner, You Got To Me goes for Ralph Beckett and she's proven herself to be a very strong stayer over this distance. Yet, there's no doubt in my mind that the runner-up at the Curragh, CONTENT (3/1) was the best filly in that Classic and she looks ready to enter the winner's enclosure.
Aidan O'Brien's filly has been a slow-burner this term. Content was well-beaten on her first couple of starts in the French 1000 Guineas and the Coronation Stakes. Ryan Moore then rode Content cold to get the trip in the Pretty Polly Stakes, and her late flourish was only good enough for third.
Moore's mount was slowly away again in the Irish Oaks and, turning for home, Content was stuck on the inside rail with a wall of runners ahead of her. Having picked his way through the field, Moore unleashed Content when he found some open air in the final furlong, but You Got To Me had already opened up an unassailable lead.
Content's dam, Mecca's Angel was a sprinter. Yet, the way she finished in both the Pretty Polly and the Irish Oaks confirms that middle distances are Content's forte. In his pre-Ebor Festival stable tour, O'Brien seemed confident that his daughter of Galileo was peaking at the right time and, at 3/1, there's still plenty of juice left in Content's price.

Verdict
Warm Heart handed Aidan O'Brien his seventh Yorkshire Oaks victory 12 months ago and I fancy Content will take his tally to eight by winning the 2024 renewal.
