9:45pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Tips


True Love got the better of HAVANA ANNA (7/1) when the two met in the Cheveley Park Stakes, but over this shorter trip, Donnacha O'Brien's filly could reverse that form.

Havana Ana produced two sparkling performances over the minimum distance at Naas over the summer, bolting up in a maiden before a four-length triumph in a decent Listed race. Gavin Ryan's mount was touched off in a French Group Three at the end of August, before a solid run behind True Love at Newmarket.

Donnacha's filly did see out the six furlongs well in the Cheveley Park, but should be much happier over five and she's been drawn nicely in stall eight. Havana Anna looks to have an excellent chance.

10:25pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Tips


Bottle Of Rouge beat Explora in the Debutante Stakes here at Del Mar, and it's hard to see how those placings will be reversed. Another rivalry is renewed as Tommy Jo and PERCY'S BAR (11/2) meet for a third time, and I think that latter of those two offers the best value.

Tommy Jo handed Percy's Bar a sound six-length thrashing when they met in the Spinaway Stakes. In a complete change of tactics, Ben Colebrook asked Luan Machado to front-run on Percy's Bar in the longer Alcibiades Stakes, and the duo crossed the line first, only to have the race handed to Tommy Jo in the steward's room.

Yes, there was contact between the two at a crucial stage down the straight. Yet, Tommy Jo had come under pressure early and I don't think he ever looked like passing Percy's Bar, who kicked clear again in the closing stages. Machado will have the chance to front-run again from a low berth in stall four, and I'm hopeful that Percy's Bar will prove that the stewards were wrong to strip him of the Alcibiades victory.

11:05pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Tips


Aidan O'Brien has been waxing lyrical about PRECISE (5/4) since her victory in the Fillies' Mile. Christophe Soumillon's mount won that Group One by just over three lengths, after which O'Brien claimed she was "as good a filly as he'd ever trained" at this point in her career.

That's some statement, given the quality of filly that Aidan has produced at Ballydoyle down the years. O'Brien has won this race with Lake Victoria and Meditate in recent years, and I'm sure he'd say that Precise was better than either of them.

Soumillon's mount has drifted from odds-on out to 5/4 since being drawn wide in stall 13. However, Precise looks to be a level above the competition on Friday, and I can't see a wide draw being enough to deny her a third Group One win in a row.

11:45pm Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Tips


Someone's 0 will have to go as Ted Noffey and Brant clash for the first time. Todd Pletcher's star tops the betting following his third-straight win in the Breeders' Futurity. Bob Baffert splashed out $3m to purchase Brant at the Breeze Up Sales, and Flavien Prat's mount has looked fast on his two starts to date.

Then there's INTREPIDO (6/1) - the least-fancied of the Grade One winners. Jeff Mullins' youngster managed to angle off the rail down the straight in the American Pharoah Stakes, and made up a four-length deficit to beat the talented Desert Gate.

Hector Berrios may face similar traffic problems from his draw in stall one. That being said, with so many speedy front-runners in the field, there's bound to be a burn-up up top, which could allow Berrios to give Intrepido a more patient ride and attempt to pick up the pieces.

12:25am Del Mar - Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Tips


Much like Precise earlier on the card, Gstaad has drifted since being drawn out wide in Friday's finale. Five of the top six in the betting have been drawn in stall nine or wider, so a wide berth might not be a bad position for Christophe Soumillon, and the favourite could be the class act in this contest.

Having already tipped Precise and one of Donnacha's runners earlier on the card, I'm going to complete the O'Brien bingo by backing Joseph's contender, NORTH COAST (20/1) at a huge price.

Dylan Brown McMonagle's mount will have to bounce back from a poor showing in the National Stakes at the Curragh, where he finished fifth in a six-horse field. Prior to that Group One outing, North Coast had bolted up by six lengths in the Tyros Stakes and made all to claim an emphatic win at Down Royal in June. Both of those races were run around turning tracks and O'Brien's colt was electric out of the gates. I fancy this test will suit North Coast better than the straight seven furlongs at the Curragh.
