The 14th and final Group One to be staged during the Breeders' Cup is the Breeders' Cup Classic. Many of North America's greatest names have won this lucrative 10-furlong dirt contest and a top-quality field looks set to assemble at Del Mar for this year's renewal.

2024 Breeders' Cup Classic Entries

The favourite to land this year's Breeders' Cup Classic is Europe's top three-year-old, City Of Troy. Aidan O'Brien's star has been dominant this year, winning the Epsom Derby, the Coral-Eclipse and the Juddmonte International. It's been 16 years since a European raider won the Classic and Ballydoyle have tried and failed on several occasions, but that hasn't stopped bookmakers from making City Of Troy their 3/1 favourite.

Victories in the Jim Dandy and the Travers Stakes have established Fierceness as the best three-year-old in the USA this year, and Todd Pletcher's colt sits second in the market. Sierra Leone has placed in four top races since his victory in the Blue Grass Stakes, and Chad Brown's closer sits prominently in the market.

Runaway Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes winner, Highland Falls is available at 12/1. As is leading filly Thorpedo Anna, who was beaten by Fierceness in the Travers Stakes and may drop back into her own sex group at the Breeders' Cup.

Muth hasn't been seen since his victory in the Arkansas Derby back in March, but could return in time for the Breeders' Cup Classic. Belmont and Haskell Stakes winner, Dornoch is likely to take up his entry, along with Bill Mott's front-runner, Arthur's Ride.

Kentucky Derby runner-up, Forever Young will fly the flag for Japan, along with last year's runner-up, Derma Sotogake. Defending champion, White Abbario could return for another crack at the Classic. Other possible runners include Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan, Belmont Stakes runner-up Mindframe, Saudi Cup winner Senor Buscador, and a third Japanese runner, Ushba Tesoro.
