2025 Breeders' Cup Classic Entries
Billy Mott's Kentucky Derby winner, Sovereignty dominated the early betting for the Breeders' Cup Classic. Sadly, the five-time Group One winner was withdrawn due to a spiked temperature this week, blowing the betting for the feature wide open.
Sierra Leone beat Fierceness in this race 12 months ago, and Chad Brown's star has had a light campaign to prepare for the defence of his Breeders' Cup crown. As has Fierceness, who roared back to top form with a front-running success in the Pacific Classic last time out, and now heads the betting in Sovereignty's absence.
Journalism has twice been beaten by Sovereignty already this year, and found himself outpaced when second to Fierceness in the Pacific Classic. Japanese star, Forever Young placed third in this race at the 2024 Breeders' Cup, but hasn't been seen since a surprise defeat in the Dubai World Cup.
Mindframe took down Sierra Leone in the Stephen Foster Stakes earlier in the season, but will have to bounce back after unseating Irad Ortiz on his most recent start. Pennsylvania Derby winner Baeza, and Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Antiquarian also feature in the betting. Raging Torrent, Highland Falls and Locked could also take up their entries.
