The final field has been confirmed for the 2024 Kentucky Derby, with the draw taking place at Churchill Downs yesterday.

The market leaders have come out of Tuesday's Kentucky Derby draw on opposite sides of the track. Sierra Leone will burst from stall two on Saturday, with second-favourite Fierceness set to jump from stall 17.

A wide draw is often seen as a negative in the Kentucky Derby. That's bad news for fans of legendary jockey Frankie Dettori, whose ride Society Man was placed in the widest stall of all, gate 20.

A Danny Gargan horse also occupies the stall closest to the rail, after Society Man's stablemate Dornoch was drawn in one. The two Japanese raiders in the field, third-favourite Forever Young and T O Password have been drawn in stalls 10 and 11, right down the centre of the track.

Along with Sierra Leone, Chad Brown will have four further runners in this year's Kentucky Derby. Fourth-favourite Catching Freedom will be ridden by Flavien Prat out of stall four. Cox's other runners are Just A Touch (8), Encino (9) and Domestic Product (15).

Endlessly (14) and Stronghold (18) drifted in the betting after landing potentially tricky wide draws. The springer in the market was Honor Marie - ridden by British jockey Ben Curtis - who was cut into 20/1 following a kind draw in stall seven.
