The 2026 Preakness Stakes, traditionally held at Pimlico, will take place at Laurel Park due to ongoing construction. Although the field lacks some star power compared to previous years, race favorite Silent Tactic could make a strong comeback after missing the Kentucky Derby due to injury. Taj Mahal holds an advantage with an unbeaten record at Laurel Park, while other notable contenders include Chip Honcho, Ocelli (a Derby third-place finisher at 100/1), and several new entries stepping up in class. Early indications point to a competitive, yet possibly less stellar, renewal for this classic.

Two weeks after the Kentucky Derby has been run at Churchill Downs, many of US horse racing's best three-year-olds will clash again in the Preakness Stakes. With Pimlico currently under construction, Laurel Park will host the Preakness for the first time in 2026, but sadly, viewers seem set for a weak renewal of this Classic on Saturday.

Let's take a look through the latest Preakness Stakes betting and run through the headline entries.

The betting for the second US Classic of the season is headed by Silent Tactic. Many fancied Mark Casse's charge to run well in the Kentucky Derby following his runner-up finish to Renegade in the Arkansas Derby, but was scratched from that famous Classic after suffering a bruised foot in the build-up.

Moving the Preakness from Pimlico to Laurel Park could suit Taj Mahal, who has won all three of his career starts at this venue. Steve Asmussen's Chip Honcho will try to bounce back after a disappointing fifth in the Louisiana Derby.

Ocelli ran a stunning race in the Kentucky Derby, finishing third having gone off as a 100/1 outsider. Napoleon Solo steps into Group One company after fifth-place finishes in the Fountain Of Youth and the Wood Memorial. Iron Honour could also enter the Preakness, despite only finishing seventh in the Wood Memorial.

Jeremiah Englehart's gelding Pretty Boy Miah features in the betting, as does Doug O'Neill's Kentucky Derby runner Robusta. Other potential runners include Great White, The Hell We Did, Talkin and Ottinho.
