Road To The Kentucky Derby 2024 - Final Points Standings

Qualifying races have been taking place for this fabled Classic throughout the early months of the season. Some international races have been awarded "Road To The Kentucky Derby" status too, allowing foreign shippers to qualify for this historic race, which will take place at Churchill Downs on Saturday, May 4th.

Here are the final points standings for the Kentucky Derby.

With a score of 155, Sierra Leone is the top qualifier for this year's Kentucky Derby. Chad Brown's star finished second in the Remsen Stakes back in December, before claiming back-to-back victories in the Risen Star and the Blue Grass Stakes.

Runaway Florida Derby winner, Fierceness sits second in the standings, having earned some early points by winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile back in November. Victory in the Louisiana Derby saw Catching Freedom reach 125 points, the same total as Santa Anita Derby winner Stronghold.

Japanese star Forever Young was awarded 100 points following his victories in the Saudi and UAE Derbys. An invitation will also be extended to Richard Hughes' three-year-old Bracken's Laugh, after he topped the European standings.

Jeff Ruby Stakes winner Endlessly is the only other horse to reach 100 points on the road to this year's Derby. Timberlake has only managed to gather 81 points, despite being the second-highest earning US three-year-old with a total career earnings of $1.17m so far.
