The Epsom Derby Festival begins at Epsom on Friday, where the Epsom Oaks headlines an excellent card. ITV viewers will enjoy five live races from Epsom, including a second Group One in the form of the Coronation Cup.

ITV Racing Tips - Friday 2nd June

Race 1 - Woodcote Stakes Tips

Having shaped with promise when third on debut at Goodwood, HAATEM (4/1) ran out a convincing winner on his second outing at Bath. Richard Hannon's star was entitled to win as easily as he did, but I was impressed with how Haatem handled that tricky track, putting six lengths between himself and the chasing pack in the blink of an eye.

Seven of the last ten winners of the Woodcote went off as either the favourite or joint-favourite, and only one winner in that time has returned a double-figure SP. It's a race that punters usually get right and I wouldn't be surprised to see Haatem backed into clear favouritism before the off.

Race 2 - Racehorse Lotto Handicap Tips

Plenty in here boast chances, but the one I like most is DUTCH DECOY (6/1). Charlie Johnston's six-year-old has been in good form this season, running very well in two valuable handicaps at Newmarket during both the Craven and Guineas meetings.

Last time out at Hamilton, Oliver Stammers was forced to circumnavigate the entire field to make a challenge from the rear and Dutch Decoy was only beaten two lengths. The in-form Neil Callan comes in for the ride today and Johnston's six-year-old is carrying a lovely racing weight of 8-12.

Race 3 - Coronation Cup Tips

Four top-class operators will clash in Friday's first Group One. Negatives can, however, be assigned to all four. Despite the good form of the Gosden yard, I'd fear that Emily Upjohn would be in need of her first run of the season. In contrast, Charlie Appleby's poor recent form would be a negative for Hurricane Lane and I'm not convinced that Point Lonsdale really wants to be going a mile-and-a-half.

WESTOVER (9/4) isn't the most reliable horse, but he did show during his three-year-old season that he possesses bundles of talent. Ralph Beckett's star ran a blinder to finish third in the Epsom Derby, having been caught in traffic, before going on to produce a dominant front-running display to win the Irish Derby.

Rob Hornby's mount chucked in a stinker in the King George and couldn't land a blow in the Arc. Westover bounced back to form when last seen out in Meydan, staying on to place second behind the hugely impressive Equinox in the Sheema Classic.

If the Westover we saw at Ascot last turns up on Friday, then the favourite has no chance. However, the Westover we saw in the Irish Derby and the Sheema Classic would take plenty of beating - especially if he's improved for that trip to Meydan.

Race 4 - Betfred Handicap Tips

This time last year, MASEKELA (12/1) finished fourth in the Epsom Derby, staying on from the rear to carry odds of 66/1 into the places.

Andrew Balding's charge ran well a couple more times as a three-year-old, finishing three lengths behind Alflaila and Adayar on his final two starts. After a poor reappearance run, Masekela made his handicap debut at York last month, where Balding's four-year-old was a big drifter on the day and couldn't sustain his challenge.

The handicapper has dropped Masekela's mark by a further three pounds down to 99 - the lowest rating of his career. Oisin Murphy's mount handled the track well in last year's Derby. He should be able to land a blow off this much-reduced rating.

Haatem is our top tip on Epsom Oaks day. Westover would be our next best, with Dutch Decoy rounding off the treble.
