ITV viewers have a feast of action to follow on Friday afternoon. Newmarket hosts day one of their Future Champions Festival, where the card is headlined by the Group One Fillies Mile. York will chip in with three strong handicaps, with two races also coming to us live from the National Hunt season opener at Chepstow.

Here are my best ITV Racing tips at Newmarket, Chepstow and York on Friday.

ITV Racing Tips - Friday 13th October


Race 1 - Veterans' Handicap Chase Tips


Five ten-year-olds, all newcomers to the Veteran ranks, currently top the betting for this intriguing contest. Aye Right and Thomas Darby head the weights, whereas GOOD BOY BOBBY (9/2) has been gradually sliding down the ratings over the past 18 months and rain-softened ground will certainly suit.

Nigel Twiston-Davies' star hasn't won since the 2021 Rowland Meyrick, but returns to action running off a 16-pound lower mark compared to when he started off last season. Good Boy Bobby won first time out in 2017, '18, '20 and '21, and was only beaten a head by Brewin'Upastorm in '19, so his reappearance record is extremely strong. He's certainly handicapped well enough to win.

Race 2 - Cornwallis Stakes Tips


There is some rain scheduled to hit Newmarket over the next 24 hours, but not nearly as much as there is forecast at Chepstow, so I doubt the ground on the Rowley Mile will soften enough for Flora Of Bermuda to be at her most comfortable.

I was really impressed with ROSARIO'S (14/1) debut win at Ffos Las and Roger Teal's youngster did brilliantly to stay on for third behind Big Evs in the Flying Childers, considering he got very upset before the start and was slowly away as a result. This son of Harry Angel clearly has ability and his finishing efforts on both starts this season have been strong. He'll do for me at an each-way price.

Race 4 - Oh So Sharp Stakes Tips


I'm not expecting SKELLET (7/4) to get beaten on Friday. Ralph Beckett's filly built on an encouraging debut at Sandown with an impressive maiden win at Salisbury, the form of which was franked when the runner-up bolted up by four lengths next time out.

Beckett's filly is a half-sister to Victory Dance, a Listed-winning juvenile for Godolphin, and Skitter Scatter, who won the Moyglare during her superb two-year-old campaign in 2018. Skellet was snapped up by Juddmonte Stud earlier this week and Ryan Moore has been booked to ride. She'll take plenty of beating.

Race 5 - Finale Handicap Tips


KARDIA (14/1) is of interest as she makes her handicap debut. Ed Bethell's youngster won nicely over 12 furlongs at Ripon in April and ran well when second on her return from a break last time out. 

Harry Davies' mount is a half-sibling to stablemate Eidikos, who was Listed-placed and reached a mark of 95 last season. This opening handicap mark of 79 looks lenient.

Race 6 - Challenge Stakes Tips


Audience, Pogo and Matilda Picotte like to go hard and fast from the front, and a relentless gallop over seven furlongs will certainly suit CHINDIT (4/1). 

Richard Hannon's colt enjoyed a particularly fruitful September, during which he won the Superior Mile and the Fortune Stakes, before producing his best ever performance on this track in the Joel Stakes two weeks ago. Chindit's record outside of Group One company is hard to ignore and I'm expecting another bold showing from Hannon's five-year-old on Friday.

Race 7 - British EBF £100,000 Final Tips


The winner of a novice at Yarmouth in June, STRAIGHT A (25/1) was only beaten three lengths in a Class 2 handicap over this course-and-distance on his penultimate start at the Ebor Festival. Hayley Turner's mount found trouble in-running when fourth at Thirsk last time out. This drop back in trip should suit and I wouldn't be shocked to see Straight A challenge for the places.

Race 8 - Old Rowley Cup Tips


I don't often back favourites in large-field handicaps, but it's hard to get away from HUMANITY (3/1) at the top of the market. John and Thady Gosden's colt got off the mark on his third novice start at Lingfield in September, before bolting up on his handicap debut at Kempton off a mark of 82 16 days ago.

This son of Roaring Lion was only beaten a length by 109-rated Chesspiece on his sole juvenile start and has taken a giant stride forward after each of his three runs this term. Humanity will carry a six-pound penalty for that Kempton success, but Oisin Murphy's mount is due to run off 96 on his next start, so the favourite is eight pounds well-in at the weights.

Race 9 - Autumn Mile Handicap Tips


Another who's waiting for the handicapper to catch up is LA TRINIDAD (11/1), who was only beaten a length in a Class 2 at Redcar six days ago. 

Roger Teal's course-and-distance winner is due to receive a two-pound hike for that performance, but will again be running off 93 and Jonny Peate takes a further three pounds off his back. I could see La Trinidad running well, around a course he clearly likes.
