ITV Racing Tips on February 14th - Saturday's selections at Ascot and Haydock

Saturday's Tips
Valentine's Day just so happens to fall on Ascot Chase day this year, and plenty of happy couples will celebrate this day of romance with a trip to the Berkshire venue. ITV Racing will be showing five races live from Ascot, as well as three from Haydock and the Kingwell Hurdle from Wincanton.
Here are my best betting tips for Saturday's ITV races.

ITV Racing Tips - Saturday 14th February
1:15pm Ascot - Betfair Novices' Hurdle Tips
Any horse can be forgiven a bad run on heavy ground at Leicester, and STARZAND (7/2) offers some value on the back of that performance.
Sean Houlihan's mount went off at 4/5 for another maiden around Leicester, having won at Ffos Las before a runner-up effort to Bossman Jack at the venue. Starzand travelled into the race well enough, but dropped back to third ahead of the second-last flight and faded tamely on the run to the line.
Horrible ground at Leicester can emphasise both winning and losing performances. Starzand is much better than what he showed that day, and I'm expecting a solid effort on Saturday.
1:35pm Wincanton - Kingwell Hurdle Tips
Heavy ground at Wincanton has caused Champion Hurdler Golden Ace to swerve this year's contest. I doubt Wincanton's card will be given the go-ahead, and there's nothing I want to back in this Grade Two anyway.
1:50pm Ascot - Reynoldstown Novices' Chase Tips
I backed Thomas Mor in the Kauto Star at Kempton, and the outsider of the party ran a blinder to finish second behind Kitzbuhel. That's comfortably the best piece of form on offer and, while he might not be a betting proposition, I'd be surprised of Thomas Mor was beaten in this lesser contest.
2:05pm Haydock - Rendlesham Hurdle Tips
Kabral Du Mathan is the stand-out in this contest. However, Dan Skelton's star has only raced over further than 19 furlongs once in his career thus far, and three-miles on heavy Haydock ground will take some getting.
BEAUPORT (11/1) was beaten into second in this race 12 months ago, losing out to Gwennie May Boy. Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies' charge had gone close in the Long Walk Hurdle on his previous start, but got outpaced late on by Olly Murphy's charge and rounded off his season with a poor effort in the Grand National.
Toby McCain-Mitchell's mount ran well on his reappearance over fences this term, before being pulled up on his return to the Long Walk. Beauport's Midlands National win came on heavy ground at Uttoxeter, and he's capable of mixing it at this level over hurdles.
2:25pm Ascot - Betfair Exchange Handicap Hurdle Tips
I wouldn't be surprised to see JURANCON (8/1) go close in this tight little contest. David Pipe's star was backed into favouritism on his reappearance at Cheltenham, but jumped poorly as he was beaten 26-lengths in seventh, and ran worse under 12-2 at Newbury last time out.
Jack Tudor's mount performed well in bumpers, winning one on heavy ground, and looked progressive as a novice hurdler last term. Jurancon beat a future Grade Two winner in Tripoli Flyer on his hurdling debut at Chepstow, and recorded back-to-back victories at Newbury later in the season.
The handicapper has only dropped Jurancon's mark by a pound for his two efforts this season. Yet, Tudor will only shoulder 11-2 on Saturday, and conditions should be ideal for him.
2:40pm Haydock - Prestige Novices' Hurdle Tips
When the ground is testing, the field is usually strung out like the washing line in this Grade Two. UBATUBA (11/2) has excelled on heavy ground at Leicester on his two starts over hurdles thus far - and any horse who can handle such conditions around Leicester is capable of going on anything.
Olly Murphy's recruit won a point-to-point in Ireland last March, and ran out a 16-length winner on his hurdles debut over two-and-a-half miles. Ubatuba won the novice hurdle that Starzand flopped in, whenre Murphy's six-year-old forged home under a penalty to win by ten lengths.
Ben Sutton's mount should have no trouble seeing out three miles, and the track at Haydock should suit. Ubatuba might be the one to side with in what's sure to be a horrendous slog.
3:00pm Ascot - Swinley Handicap Chase Tips
In his Cheltenham Festival stable tour, Ben Pauling mentioned that YOUR DARLING (9/1) was in "seriously good form", and conditions look ideal for his 11-year-old to strike this weekend.
Pauling's lightly-raced teenager is a previous winner at this track, having thrashed Flegmatik over 2m5f here in November 2023. Ben Jones' mount didn't take to the Grand National course in the Topham, but claimed a soft-ground win at Uttoxeter to round off his campaign.
After another lengthy absence, Your Darling finished fourth of four on his return at Ascot, but ran a blinder behind The Doyen Chief at Kempton last month. Pauling's star remains on a nice mark, and vibes coming out of the stable are strong.
3:15pm Haydock - Grand National Trial Handicap Chase Tips
I'm not ready to forgive Grand Geste for that deplorable round of jumping at Doncaster, and I can't side with Neo King again from four pounds out of the handicap. Instead, I've come round on the side of RIVERS CORNER (8/1), who thrived on bottomless ground when winning the Somerset National last month.
Joe Tizzard's stayer was fancied at Wincanton, having placed third on his three previous starts this season. Brendan Powell's mount tanked through the contest, jumped into the lead at the second-last and sauntered 21 lengths clear of the chasing pack.
Rivers Corner looked ready to go round again when he crossed the line at Wincanton, so I can't imagine an extra couple of furlongs will bother him on Saturday. Joe Tizzard's horses are running well and, with Brendan Powell riding at Wincanton, Freddie Gingell is an excellent substitute.
