2026 Grand Prix de Paris Runners
Maltese Cross ran an excellent second to Christmas Day in the Derby at Epsom, and William Haggas' star is favourite to make a winning French debut. Aidan O'Brien is represented by Causeway, who has won all four of his starts in 2026, including a narrow Group Two success in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The leading home contender in the betting is Andrew Fabre's Space Waltz, last seen claiming Group Three honours at Chantilly in June. Francis Graffard is represented by the unbeaten Varandir, who made it three-from-three in a Group Three here at Longchamp back in May. Mikel Delzangles' Alam steps up in trip, following a fifth-place finish in the Prix du Jockey Club.

Joseph O'Brien is responsible for the second Royal Ascot winner in today's field, as Queen's Vase winner Limestone drops back down to a mile-and-a-half. Ancient Egypt ran a cracker to push Causeway all the way to the line at Ascot, having bombed out on unsuitably soft ground in the Epsom Derby just two weeks before.
2026 Grand Prix de Paris Tips
Aidan O'Brien has saddled the winner of every French Classic this season, and I'd be surprised if Causeway wasn't backed into favouritism before the off. Ancient Egypt gave Causeway a real fright at Royal Ascot, and with the ground set to be good to firm at Longchamp this evening, I could see Charlie Johnston's raider running well at a huge price.
We saw the Prix du Jockey Club form franked at Sandown a couple of weeks ago, as Constitution River beat A Boy Named Susie and Hawk Mountain in the Coral-Eclipse. ALAM (6/1) thundered home from the rear to finish closest to the Irish raiders in that French Classic, and I'm sure this step up to a mile and a half will really suit.
Mikel Delzangles' charge went into that Classic at Chantilly on the back of a Group Three win in the Prix Greffulhe, but drifted out to 100/1 after being drawn in the widest stall of all. Antoine Hamelin had to slot in from that wide berth and was still last turning for home. Alam was forced wide on a couple of occasions as he tried to make up ground, yet still produced some excellent closing fractions to finish just a head behind A Boy Named Susie in fifth.
Delzangles said, after watching his star break his maiden in the Prix Greffulhe, that he'd have no trouble seeing out 12 furlongs. Zelzal has produced several top middle-distance performers, and Alam's dam won two Listed races over a mile and a half.
Pierre-Charles Boudot takes over in the saddle from Hamelin tonight, and a tongue-tie has been fitted for the first time. Alam has been drawn kindly in stall three and should get a decent pace to aim at.
Verdict
Alam is our best bet in the 2026 Grand Prix de Paris.
